Caretaker Training Workshop - NYC
Trap-Neuter-Return: How to Manage a Feral Cat Colony. [cal]24 August 2008[/cal] Sunday, August 24, 1 to 4 pm at the Bronx Library Center in New York. Learn how to care for the feral and stray cats in your community and make use of the many resources now available to assist you. All steps in setting up a managed colony will be covered, including establishing good community relations, feeding, building and placing shelters, arranging vet care, finding recovery space, safely handling feral cats, and trapping (with an emphasis on conducting a mass-trapping of an entire feral colony at once). All workshop attendees will become TNR certified, and NYC residents will gain access to free spay/neuter and trap rental. Join the 1,500+ caretakers trained to date! Dancing for Animals is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds, via dancing activities, for animal welfare organizations, educating people about animal welfare issues, and inspiring volunteerism and community activity. They hold dance parties every alternate Saturday nights, with all funds raised going to support their educational programs and to give financial support to animal organizations. Come early for an introductory class in a specific dance style, then dance the night away from Swing to Mambo to Foxtrot. Music for all dances played. Admission is $10. Rational Animal: Happy Hour Fundraiser Thursday August 21, 2008 in Manhattan All donations go directly to Rational Animal and benefit the October 6th Gimme Shelter Rock & Rescue NYC concert. The Gimme Shelter concert is produced and presented by Rational Animal (non-profit, all-volunteer) and benefits ten local rescues and shelters, all members of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, who support animal rescue and protect hundreds of animals in New York City from cruelty, abandonment, neglect, and work to eliminate euthanasia in city shelters. Feeding Pets of the Homeless is a nonprofit member organization that provides pet food and veterinarian care to the homeless and less fortunate in local communities across the United States and Canada. Headquarters are in Carson City, Nevada. Socially responsible veterinarian hospitals and clinics around the country are collecting pet food from their clients and are partnering with local food banks who then distributes the pet food to the homeless and disadvantaged. Participating clinics/hospitals are listed on the Feeding Pets of the Homeless website at www.PetsofHomeless.com along with the partnering food bank.
