RE: Another "Whew!" page 3This is a discussion thread · 46 replies Gwen Watson: [nq:1]If you know you tend to have a trust that things will turn out okay personality, it is even more ... risk analytical. Paula "Napoleon should be seen in Superdeterminism-Analogy History theory as the Hitler of France." Archimedes Plutonium[/nq]Very good advice Paula. I can tend to have this things will turn OK personality. Though not when streets are involved. I then would go completely balistic from panick. I just know I would. But I was even one of those rather laidback human moms so I know at times I do take more risks than others may or would. Thanks for a very insightful post. Gwen

shelly: [nq:1]Thank you, Shelly. I was honestly taken aback that Leah would not have considered it. My road is much less traveled than hers - at 25mph, your tires and suspension won't last long on it either.[/nq]that sounds like my road. and funnily enough, i see all sorts of roadkill on it. [nq:1]It's just a really bad idea to ever call a dog across the road.[/nq] i've got three younger brothers, two of whom i helped raise. one of the first things i learned was that you NEVER call a kid across a street, no matter how quiet it is. there's no excuse for being too lazy to haul your ass across the street and get the kid. [nq:1]And even a road-wise dog who is being called may get careless.[/nq] yep. it's just not worth the risk. [nq:1]Now if you want something approaching a low blow - why in the world would you spend the money for a digital camera when your fence needs to be fixed?[/nq] the mind wobbles, doesn't it? shelly (perfectly foul wench) and elliott and harriet http://home.bluemarble.net/~scouvrette

Gwen Watson: [nq:1]i got the impression that Leah's fence is chain link. if so, that seems to be working for her. i ... it's higher than 3' though. that's just begging for trouble. shelly (perfectly foul wench) and elliott and harriet http://home.bluemarble.net/~scouvrette[/nq] I would never have 3' fence and feel secure. I have seen too many dogs climbing chainlink fences that are only 3' tall. Gwen

shelly: [nq:1]Chainlink? Well Blade blows right through chainlink like it is butter. He can literally and has pulled a chainlink to pieces with his teeth.[/nq]my neighbor's dog does that. one whole section of their fence is mangled because her dog bites it. she bites it because she gets overstimulated by the nearby chicken pen. in her case, the dog can't jump/climb the fence, so a tarp thrown over the fence to break the line of sight fixes the problem. [nq:1]But honestly most dogs won't blow through a chainlink so your suggestion is good. And I wasn't trying to say differently just giving a slant on my own situation.[/nq] i got the impression that Leah's fence is chain link. if so, that seems to be working for her. i *do* think she needs to fix it so it's higher than 3' though. that's just begging for trouble. shelly (perfectly foul wench) and elliott and harriet http://home.bluemarble.net/~scouvrette

queenmother: [nq:1]I live on a quiet residential street with a 25 m.p.h. speed limit and very little traffic. I can also see traffic coming in any direction from a distance, and there wasn't any. Anybody else want to try a low blow?[/nq]Okay, let's add to this one. You saw a dog at a distance. You couldn't even tell if it was MacKenzie. You called MacKenzie and she came. BUT when you called, you did not know that the dog you saw was MacKenzie. Therefore, you did not know if you were calling her across a street or not. And if, instead of the street that you could see, you were calling across a different street - one that did have traffic. Dogs get out of fenced yards. People are only human and dogs are dogs. Things happen. But you posted here expecting praise after putting your dog in a dangerous situation - in more than one way and you fail still to recognize it. The dog did good, that's true. You however.. ~~Judy
