[nq:1]climb? my dogs would sail right over it! well, Lola would sail over it. Manu would plow through it like a bulldozer. not very subtle, that one.[/nq]
ha! that sounds like harriet and elliott. harriet would boing over and elliott would plow through. lummox. subtlety is not in his vocabulary.

it's hell on teeth! my neighbor's dog's teeth have taken a horrible beating from fence biting.
[nq:1]I find it pretty annoying.[/nq]
as well you should. it *is* annoying. when i last house sat for my neighbors, i put the tarp over the fence because it drove me insane. the whole time i was feeding the chickens, the dog would be growling and biting on the fence.

You are absolutely right about that. Blade has only done this when *we*, Steve and I are on the other side of the fence. Actually he did it once when I was cleaning bird cages and he could see the water spraying. He wanted that water bad.

But then he has done the same to all the crates.

[nq:1]Okay, let's add to this one. You saw a dog at a distance. You couldn't even tell if it was MacKenzie. You called MacKenzie and she came.[/nq]
if she couldn't tell whether or not it was her dog, she could well have been calling someone else's dog. not only might she have been calling someone else's dog away from them, but it could have been hit when crossing the street. it was all-around a really bad judgment call.

Yes you are right. IF it was her dog or ANY dog, if you have to call the dog, get in the middle of the street, so at least hopefully traffic will stop.

Geeshh
I cringe when I see people doing something so stupid.

My dogs have free run into the back garden but it is completely dog proof.
7 - 8 foot wall and permanently locked gate. The only trouble they can getinto is digging bloody great holes everywhere,

[nq:2]You called your dog ACROSS a street. I live on ... down the road. I NEVER call a dog across aroad.[/nq]
[nq:1]I live on a quiet residential street with a 25 m.p.h. speed limit and very little traffic. I can also see traffic coming in any direction from a distance, and there wasn't any. Anybody else want to try a low blow?[/nq]
It's not a low blow, I don't know where you live but where I live lot's of drivers can't or won't read spped limit signs. Also a 25mph impact can be deadly. And I don't care what anyone says no dog is 100% trustworthy / obedient / trained. Cars, dogs and roads do not go together.

I'm sorry leah but I have to disagree with you, I would have crossed the road and then recalled.

Amen to that!
Nor toddlers for that matter.
But I have seen more than my share of toddlers
on roads with little or no supervision.
Quite scary.
