![]() Best tortoise for a kid?2 replies Anonymous: Hello! Our son is 4 years old and he loves tortoises very much. He's been asking us to get him one. But we know very little about these pets so I was hoping to get some advice from you. What tortoise can we get for him so it's not too difficult to take care of? It's highly desirable that it doesn't bite and isn't susceptible to diseases. Many thanks in advance. You should not buy an animal "for a kid" a kid especially his age should not be responsible for taking care of any animal, that's how animals end up homeless especially because at his age they change what they love like socks and most likely will loose interest very fast (and I have 5 small brothers I see that happen so much). You have to understand that if you're going to have to take the responsibility to feed him on time with the right food, clean and do everything that needs to be done, so this depends on what you want to take on yourself. You should search online for different kinds, you will find all the info you need, learn about habitats and feeding and health that way you would know which one suites you best it's hard to tell because it has to be something that you as parents will have time to dedicate to take care of. As for the health and biting, do not buy it from a pet store, buy it from a private person. pet store animals grow in poor conditions without human contact and are most likely to not be very friendly. Anonymous: Tortoises are boring pets for kids because you cannot cuddle with them and they require special care. | Have a question? People are waiting to help. Interesting stuff |
