For sure not PETA these folks are actually doing something:

Friday, AM
Rick is here with the AFA truck, at last, we are consolidating materials to send east with him into Mississippi, the heart of the devastation. We have been wonderfully inundated with an amazing outpouring of needed supplies. THANKS THANKS THANKS

We probably have most of what we need now except daily stuff like paper towels, toilet paper, computer paper, computer Ink (HP Deskjet PORKCHOP-style black and color ink cartridges) I think we have more coffee than Columbia! And some of it is delicious. If anybody sends any more coffee, could it be Cool Brew Toasted Almond on, no, that's from the New Orleans Coffee Company, I wonder if that will be possible to get). Please check with Jon-Mark at 911ParrotAlert.com if you would like to send something.
THANKS EVERYBODY! We still need people. The first wave of volunteers are pretty close to burnt out from
almost-round-the-clock work. Nothing is perfect, but it's looking more and more organized.
Instead of simply reacting, we are starting to be able to plan. We have experienced rescue workers on the way (so far, we're long on sweat and enthusiasm and short on disaster experience). One plan at this time is to send every bird home in a better cage than it came in. You'd be amazed at what had been thrown together to get these birds out. A cage that falls apart is a lost bird, and I lost a parrotlet trying to take it down from a high hook still hanging over toxic soup yesterday. We'll have to go back and try to capture that bird today. The military, local police, and highway patrol remain very, very helpful in getting us in.

Actually, yesterday, we had one van break down, so we had only two vehicles and we could hardly get out as the highway patrol officers called us over and over to come back for other animals. Then, of course, probably after having to drive offroad around standing water (there are still addresses we've been asked to reach that we can't reach), I had a flat and had removed my bag with fix a flat to accommodate more carriers.
On my way to the tire farm. I have a nice new red flashing light atop my minivan and lots of muck on the undercarriage. I'll hose it off before I go to the tire shop.

Hey Dave,
what have you to say about PETA's conduct this summer in Virginia and N. Carolina. When 2 of their employee's went around to different shelters and vet's collecting dogs promising to find them homes. Then euthaniesd them and dumped there bodies in dumpsters behind a mall. And that wasn't by far the first time. It was just the first time they got caught. Talk about horrible behavior.

I know the allegations, but not the facts. Allegations and facts are often two different things.
If those employees did something wrong, then they should be punished.

Our government, our religious groups, our schools, families, and
99.99% of all organizations unfortunately try to cover up themisdeeds of it's members. I always say that if someone does something wrong, they should be exposed and punished.
In every organization, there are going to be bad people. It's how those people are handled once they are exposed that determines what kind of organization exists. I hope the facts are clear, and PETA handles this the right way. If not, then I'll criticize the hell out of them.

This story sounds a little like what our Senate leader Frist spent time some time doing. He went around to shelters pretending he wanted to adopt cats as pets. He smiled, told the hard working and caring shelter workers a truck load of lies, lied on the forms he filled out, then took the poor animals away to be used in gruesome experiments. He did this over and over.

As I said, he is now the leader of the Senate of the u.s. A lying, disgraceful POS.
Before anyone says this isn't true, he was eventually exposed and had to admit it in his autobiography.

Thanks for that link.
I intentionally, but only temporarily, left out that PETA had put pressure on Frist. PETA is where I first heard of the story. Probably wouldn't of heard of it if not for them.
Some people would prefer that groups like PETA didn't exist so that none of us would have to deal with uncomfortable little facts of life like our senate leader is a scumbag cat killer.
Better to cover those things up so the weak don't get upset. Better to let our maninstream media ignore the story so their advertisers don't get upset when the flag wavers call and complain. Better to pretend none of this awful stuff happens so we don't have to feel any guilt, or change the way we live our comfy little lives.

I was in the area when the story broke, saw the news footage, Interviews ect. The two particapnts did confess to the crime, as a matter of fact they were caught in the act.

So how many people and how many dollars has that very profitable non-profit sent in to help the dogs, cats and birds "displaced" by the disaster?

No idea.
Do you know? Unless you have proof PETA is doing nothing, why make accusations?
I guess it would depend on how many people are available. You can't take a person away from a project/situation and send them to the Gulf if it results in animals suffering or dying due to them leaving.

How much emergency funding has our government granted to help the animals in this disaster? The HSUS has requested emergency funding, but I've yet to hear of any being granted.
Besides pets, an estimated 650 million animals on factory farms have either been killed or are slowly dying right now due to the storm damage. Their life was hell before the hurricane, and now they are being forgotten to die in misery all because people love to stuff their fat faces with KFC and hot dogs.
What upsets you more, PETA's in your face tactics, or the above paragraph?
