Anonymous: My cat had her anal glands expressed a few days ago. Today I noticed a bald soft puffy spot just above her tail. I think something went wrong with the anal expression...any advice?
I honestly don't know how that could affect any fur unless your kitty is extremely hairy and they had to shave the area. But that would be UNDERNEATH the tail, not above. I was present just a month ago when they expressed the anal glands of my sister's cat whom I care for and all they do is put their finger inside and squeeze out the pussy glands and take it out. That's it! So I don't know what could have gone wrong to affect the area above her tail. Are you sure it wasn't there before that? If you're concerned I suggest calling the vet who did the extraction tomorrow but again, I don't know how that could have affected it. I'd call if it's red and puffy.
