Hello, Is it possible that cats have age behaviour changes such as not realizing where they should pee? My cat is 18 years old and for the past months he's been using the armchair, his bed for many years, as a pee place. He'll occasionally use the toilet (he's toilet-trained) but very often he uses the armchair. I have to keep it covered with an oilcloth so that cleaning is easier but of course this is not a great solution. Once I left my clothes on the couch and he peed on those too! A couple of days ago I bought a litter tray, put a cloth in it, and left the tray on the armchair. Guess what - he peed in there! Sometimes it feels like he'll pee on any cloth but NOT in the toilet. For now I'm glad he'll use the litter tray even though it's not in the bathroom but I am puzzled. He poops in the right place and pees in the other, totally wrong place almost all the time. I thought he might have kidney problems but I assume he'd pee all over the apartment then, not in the very same spot with such persistence? Thanks, Christa

Do you maybe have any idea how can I teach my cat not to always jump on the table in my dining area? He likes to get very comfortable there. My cats are allowed to move freely in the house yes, but on the table, my tolerance stops. I've heard that it's too late to remove bad habits from cats now but I want to try!

Hi, Since recently my cat has been refusing to use the litter box. She simply does the things outside it. It's a new litter box we bought about two weeks ago but she accepted it back then. For about 5 days she's not been using it. It's in the same place as her old one and the litter is the same as well. Any ideas?

Hullo! A month ago we finally got a desired kitten! He's the first kitten we have and I'm often confused about his behavior! For instance he loves licking different things! If he's sitting a windowsill he may lick it as we as the window! He also licks wallpapers, furniture, floor (his favorite). He doesn't lick it for hours, just a couple of licks and then he's doing something else. What can this mean? He's 4 months old, healthy and playful. No problems with appetite and stool. Thanks so much in advance!

Two months ago my sister gave birth to a wonderful girl. We live together and there had been no kids in the house before. The problem is now with my 6 year old Sphynx. He's afraid of the girl! I tried to hold him on my hands and come to the baby but he just tries to get out and run away. He won't smell her. How can I show him she's no danger?

Hi, I'd like to know how your cat shows her love and affection. Having watched my own kitty for a while I've noticed a few typical things: rubbing against me and giving me head-bumps purring kneeding rolling over for a tummy rub sleeping in my bed scratching (sometimes) Is it what you cat does too or is there something else you noticed?

Hi I have 1 male and 2 female cats. The females are cats from the tip of the tail till the tips of their ears and whiskers. The male is just plain odd. His behavior is totally dog-like. He'll bring me toys, wait till I throw them, and will bring them again. No one has taught him that. He's got lots of other dog-like streaks, it would be too long to list them. The only thing that differs him from a dog is his cat appearance and that he can't bark. All my friends are puzzled. Many have cats but no one has SUCH a cat. I'd like to know if anyone has encountered a similar situation.

Hi! I hope someone can help me with this. I have a 4year old female cat and an adopted 3month male kitten (he has been a month with us). Willow (4 year old) accepted voodoo right away, and sometimes she tries to give him a bath, like if she was her mother, but Voodoo doesn't let her, he starts hissing and trying to bite her. The rest of the time Voodoo acts like if Willow wasn't there, he shows no interest at all, even when Willow tries to play with him, is the same thing again. I'm afraid this behaviour will upset Willow, she has started to behave angry towards me and yesterday she didn't ate until I gave her the food with my hand. What can I do to encourage the new kitten to accept Willow? This is the first time this happens to me, usually is the other way around.

Hello to all cat lovers! I cannot understand behavior of my cat. He's almost 1 year old. We had him neutered about a month ago. His behavior hasn't changed since then although I still hope it will improve later. Aggression is what worries me. In fact I can't even understand if it's aggression or affection. He bites. Not too hard but that can be painful anyway. He's normally a very affectionate kitty, he loves to cuddle and kiss me, he walks after me everywhere and as soon as I sit down, he jumps on my lap. He can sit like that for hours. But lately such moments have always ended up with biting. He'll sit, purr, and then bite my hand all of a sudden. I usually make him get off my lap when it happens and tell him firmly NO. After this he usually wants to attack me for real! A water spray bottle is the only thing that helps but it's not always at hand. I love him so much and I know he loves me too, but lately I've been really afraid he'll attack into my face! WHY does he bite me? My daughter is pregnant and he doesn't have this behavior towards her at all! As if he understands he shouldn't bite her. I really can't understand my cat!

Hi, I have a 4 months old kitten that loves to dig in his litter box when he uses it and when he doesn't. I'm kinda tired of cleaning the mess several times day. Is there a way to stop this excessive digging? Maybe a larger box will help?

It soooo much reminds me of Barsik's look when he peed in a wrong place - pictures here and here. Cats know it when they are guilty and keep doing those bad things anyway! Oh well. They also know that whatever they do, they are loved, hehe. Click on the CC button to view the subtitles if you need them. So, who would you call the suspect?

hi ^_^ one of my friends talked with me about it and I couldn't find a better answer than "that's cat nature"! briefly: she and her boyfriend live together. they have a 10 years old cat who originally belonged to my friend before they started living together. she has to do short 4 days business trips and the cat stays alone with her boyfriend. the thing is, when she's at home the cat is super demanding and wants her attention all the time, meows a lot and so on. when she's on a business trip, the cat changes completely. he is no longer demanding and he seems to know his place. the boyfriend likes cats too and i thouhgt the cat could manipulate him too but he doesnt! a mystery! ^_^

Hi all, Recently I adopted a stray male cat. The vet said he's about 4 years old. I already had another male cat of 2 years. The problem is that they want to fight and hiss at each other every single day. I have to keep them in different rooms but it cannot last forever. So my question is if it's going to stay like this or they'll get used to each other? I really want to keep them both. The new cat has been around for 5 days. Thank you in advance! P.S. The yonger cat is neutered and the new one isn't. I'm going to have him neutered asap and I do hope so much it'll help solve the prob.

Hello dear cat lovers! I need your advice very much. We have a breedless cat, he's not neutered and is turning 8 soon. My mom is the one who feeds him and communicates with him most of the time, so he has very strong bonds with her. The problems begin when she has to go on business trips and she does it often. When she's away, the cat won't stop peeing everywhere. Sometimes he even poos in wrong places but it doesn't happen too much fortunately. Peeing is the main problem, he can pee even on windowsills! Is it a way to express his frustration and disagreeing with my mom's absense? What can I do in this situation? Thank you in advance very much.

Someone once told me that cats can become aggressive as they grow older. I've had several cats but none of them chnaged much in old age except for those typical changes like less activity and becoming more placid. I can't think of any reason for an old cat to get aggressive. Any ideas? Thanks.
