hi maybe some1 can give me an idea what's going on with my cat myla. she's 4 years old rescue cat with a loving personality. since recently she's been holding her tail curled downwards in a spiral between her back legs. like monkeys that sometimes use their tail to climb trees you know. it happens occasionally and it puzzles me very much. nothing else has changed in her behavior or habits. just very odd. she's an outdoor cat.

Hi, what does it mean what a cat chews paper? Mine loves to chew its corners and ofc she's loves toilet paper and paper towels. Can it mean she lacks fiber or something else in her diet?

I'm just wondering if your cats stare at the thin air with no obvious reason sometimes? Miky is doing it right now and it's a bit spooky.

So does your cat try to drink from toilet? Do you allow it to? I've always wondered what makes Barsik do it from time to time (he does have fresh water in the bowl), and I still have no explanation lol. Any thoughts? We try to discourage him from doing so saying it's a wrong thing to do etc, I bet he understands, but every once in a while he's at it again. I'm really not sure how to stop it and whether we should at all. Well, at least he gives us one more reason to keep the toilet extra clean.

So for about two weeks my cats has got this obsessive hand licking whenever he's on my lap. This happens until I start petting him or till I put him down on the floor. My husband says that's how he's asking for attention and that he's figured his way of getting it but I am not as sure because as I said I sometimes put him down and he won't stop doing it next time. He's 3 and a half years old and he's never done it before. What do you think?

So, I was playing with my kitties with a laser pointer and having so much fun, and I wondered: do they have fun too? Or is it just their instincts kicking out?

My cat is a 7year old siamese female. My partner and I introduced another cat , a tabby who is a year old. This was about a 8 months ago and we have moved houses twice in that time. The older cat Diva, has become very withdrawn and hisses and growls at the 1 year old female Sqeeks whenever they are near each other. Diva who used to come inside all the time now only comes home for food and spends most of her time away from the house. Sqeeks only seems to want to play with Diva and be friends. Diva wont have it. I miss Diva terribly and fear I may have to re-house her as I dont think she is having the best life experience in the current situation. Diva is a beautiful cat that has been used to living with me and my 12 year old dog for most of her life. She has found herself in this new situation and seems miserable. I feel awful and just want what is best for her. Is ther any hope? Please Help us, especially My Diva. You should know in case it helps with advice that they have never actually had a fight despite being in the same room. There have been times when Diva has been asleep on the lounge and Sqeeks has been not far from her sitting quietly. Thankyou. Machelle, Bronwyn, Diva, Sqeeks and Gypsy x

We had a heavy thunderstorm yesterday and to my surprise my poor Missy was totally terrified by it! It looked like she was in panic really, trying to find a place to hide, but there was no place safe enough because thunder sound was loud so she'd run out of her cover and look for a better safe spot. She was seen under every bed in the house! I didn't know what to do and how to comfort her. She eventually hid under the bathtub and didn't go out for about an hour after all was over. Poor thing. We've had her for about a year and she had never revealed any phobia until yesterday as it was the first time she witnessed a thunderstorm. Is there anything I can do next time so she's not so stressed? Thanks! Kim

Hey guys, I stumbled across these Guidelines for Catsand just can't help sharing them. It describes my cat's behaviour waay too much! Especially the doors part. Those who have cats will completely undestand my amusement. Or is that applicable for dogs as well? Here is a summary: Doors Do not allow closed doors in any room. To get door opened, stand on hind legs and hammer with forepaws. Once door is opened, it is not necessary to use it. After you have ordered an "outside" door opened, stand halfway in and out and think about several things. This is particularly important during very cold weather, rain, snow, or mosquito season. Bathrooms Always accompany guests to the bathroom. It is not necessary to do anything . . . just sit and stare. Hampering - When supervising cooking, sit just behind the left heel of the cook. You cannot be seen and thereby stand a better chance of being stepped on and then picked up and comforted. - For book readers, get in close under the chin, between eyes and book, unless you can lie across the book itself. - For knitting projects or paperwork, lie on the work in the most appropriate manner so as to obscure as much of the work or at least the most important part. Walking As often as possible, dart quickly and as close as possible in front of the human, especially on stairs, when they have something in their arms, in the dark, and when they first get up in the morning. This will help their coordination skills. Bedtime Always sleep on the human at night so s/he cannot move around. Play This is an important part of your life. Get enough sleep in the daytime so you are fresh for your nocturnal games. Cat Games - Catch Mouse The humans would have you believe that those lumps under the covers are their feet and hands. They are lying. They are actually Bed Mice, rumored to be the most delicious of all the mice in the world, though no cat has ever been able to catch one. Warning : Playing this game to excess will result in expulsion from the bed and possibly from the bedroom. Should the humans grow restless, immediately begin purring and cuddle up to them. This should buy you some time until they fall asleep again. Toys Any small item is a potential toy. If a human tries to confiscate it, this means that it is a good toy. Run with it under the bed. Look suitably outraged when the human grabs you and takes it away. Always watch where it is put so you can steal it later.

We were given a 1 year old cat three days ago. We love her but she won't stop using my flower pots instead of her litter box. What do I do? She's just now getting used to us and I don't want to make her scared but this is gross!

Hi all, This morning I was sitting on a couch with my legs crossed and a slipper hanging on the foot. I sat like that I don't know for about 15 mins maybe and then all of a sudden I felt a furry clawy ball attacking my foot. That was my cat. I got a few scratches with little bleeding. Nothing serious but now I'm sorta afraid of my own cat!! He's 6 moths old, we never played rough games and he's an utterly sweet creature overall, very loving and great. What could have caused this attack? Did he think the slipper hanging on my foot was a toy? That's really freaky to walk in your house and be afraid for your feet safety. Lulu

In March I found a home for a shelter cat Derry. He's neutered and got along with the resident cat quickly. BUT there's a toilet problem! He pees in the litter box and that's ok, however for pooping he uses... the sink in the kitchen! The new owners say it's totally unacceptable. They tried locking him in the bathroom with the litter tray but that didn't help. It will break my heart if he has to go to the shelter again. How can they fix it?? They have two litter boxes, one for each cat.
