Hi, my cat developed a perfectly round lump on her throat several years ago, but only now it seems to be growing. At this point its about half a cm in diameter and very hard. The difference is that she has started scratching it recently. I will take her to the vet soon but was wondering if anyone knows what this could be? Merci
Hello anon, it can be many things like an abscess, swollen gland, sebaceous cyst or fatty tumor. The last two are usually small and they grow slowly. Does it seem to bother her when you touch the lump? If yes I'd take her to an emergency vet because she may be in pain.

No she likes it when i touch her there, she'll stretch out her neck for me to rub it for her!
If that's not painful it's good news. However since she began to scratch it and she likes you to scratch it too, it's apparently itchy. This can be caused by the lump itself or it can be an additional thing like an allergy, especially if she scratches the other parts of her body. Please have her checked by a vet and let us know what he says.

I would rush to a vet right away if I were in your shoes! I'm not an expert but it could be a parasite or infection. I hope I'm wrong and it's nothing serious!
