Sand or other?Approved answer (verified by Ruslana) cornsnakes are not desert reptiles so they're not meant to live in sand. it can stuck under their scales causing infection. i prefer aspend or paper towels.  Participant52 ALL REPLIES I would recommend Aspen Shavings, its the nicest to look at and its not to expensive. I bought a huge bad from petsmart for 9 dollars and it will change my snakes bedding about 8 times with enough for him to burrow. There is also a kind of carpet you can put in the bottom. I would strongly advice you not use cedar. My snake really likes Aspen shavings, its not harsh on their scales and its easy on the eyes and not to horrible to clean either.
