Dandelion Question

A Hess:

I like to go out and pick fresh dendelion greens for my Ig 'Fossil' and I have a question: I've noticed there are two types of dandelion leaves, the normal looking, nice, leafy ones and the rounder, thicker "hairy" ones. So far I've only been picking the nice leafy ones because I know they're safe. Do any of you know about the other ones? Are they OK? Thanks, Aron

Are they OK? | Thanks, Aron | |I feed Sorath all kinds of dandelions from our yard (which is NOT hit with pesticides, ever). So far, she's fine. I'd just get a "wildflower and weed identifier book", and look up everything unfamiliar, just to be on the reassured side. I know when Sorath has been outside and foraged in the yard on her own, she spits out anything she bites that she thinks is nasty.

Not scientific, to be sure, but I've been there myself with eating all kinds of weeds as salad greens, so I'm laid back on the toxin and germ theory of life. Sorath also took a chomp out of my sandwich today (!!) while I was eating it (Brian got pics of THAT little incident). I did finish the sandwich.
