I looked at my cat

I looked at my cat today, and i noticed he was limping around on three legs. I looked at his paw, and one of the paw pads is cut up and oozing a fluid out. What should I do? I can't take him to the vet today.

Hi Alissa. The only thing I can think of is to soak the foot in epsom salt for a few minutes which should help with the wound. Have you seen any foreign object such as a splinter?

No, I didn't see anything. My cat is an outside cat, so it could have been anything. At least soaking it in epsom salts would be safe and hazard free.

If the would is small let it heal by itself after you've used a saline solution. Apply a bandage if you want but cats are usually good at removing them; you may want to use an adhesive tape to make it last longer. If the paw is swollen apply an ice pack to reduce it and take the kitty to a vet as soon as you can; he may need some antibiotic treatment to prevent infection.
Welcome Alissa!
How is your cat now, is the paw better?
