RE: Do pit bulls eat goats? page 4This is a discussion thread · 63 replies Debbie S: Fair warning. I wanted a goat to eat the blackberry brambles around my barn and corrals. I was going to board horses, and do a little training. Went to the state fair to buy said goat. No one would sell me one, had to buy two. Within two years, I had 62 dairy goats, was advertising, showing, and milk testing. I adore goats. They're funny, personable, affectionate, and quite smart.Berry brambles are goat candy, along with thistles, so I wouldn't count on it. Debbie

I wanted a goat to eat the blackberry brambles around my barn and corrals.[/nq]I know people who swear by using hogs to clear land, but apparently they leave a heck of a mess (they really tear up the ground). I don't like swine, anyway. I do like goats but tend to think they're difficult to keep. Livestock is out of the question, anyway, what with the Siberians. Abby Pennington: [nq:1]I'm pretty sure that goats can do very tight turns - but how fast do they get going on straight-aways?[/nq]They're kind of fun to herd, but it can be frustrating for the dogs. I think goats do better with a closer herder like a Corgi than something that relies on eye and intimidation from afar. Mooch loves to herd goats. -Abby Pems, Aussie, and a Pug *Remove shoes to reply*

shelly: see (Email Removed) wrote in well, harriet's always up for cuddling. that's her favoritest pastime. the problem is with her being needy and/or boingy when i've got other things i need to do. when that happens, she bugs elliott. in the past, that's been fine. i just sent them outside to wrestle and play bitey face. now, more and more, elliott tells her to knock it off or he goes to his crate for a nap. [nq:1]Yup. Friday is soooo bonded with Rocky, though I know he'd quickly bond with another dog (or person for that matter).[/nq] yeah, that's what i'm dealing with with harriet. she's really bonded to me, but i know she'd bond just as closely to anyone she lived with. ditto her relationship with elliott, though in a perfect world harriet would prefer to be an only dog. [nq:1]I don't know which would work better, though - a third dog bought in in the next year or so, or a post-Rocky dog.[/nq] i envy you the ability to even consider the option, though i don't envy the circumstances. i really hope you get good news tomorrow. shelly (perfectly foul wench) and elliott and harriet http://home.bluemarble.net/~scouvrette

Debbie S: They really aren't. It's just like other critters, rather easy as long as their needs are met. They need/desire browse, things to climb on, companionship. Debbie

CaptRon: chickens are also a very effective brush clearer. Of course, they would be even more out of the question with Sibes. LOL I hate pigs. YUCK. We had one growing up and she was one mean ***. But she loved men.dainerra

Bethgsd: [nq:1]are you thinking of taking up goat-dog racing?[/nq]for some reason I read that as "goat drag racing." Beth

Melinda Shore: [nq:1]for some reason I read that as "goat drag racing."[/nq]As in "goats in tutus" or "goats going really fast in a straight line?"
