Hey all!

Because of an unbelievably hot weather we've been having for over 4 weeks, we've decided to trim Barsik. But the problem is that he hardly lets us do so! We've never tried to trim him before so he's not used to it, and I wonder: is there any way we can do it peacefully considering he's almost 16 years old? What do you do to trim or shave your cat if he doesn't like it?

For now, we managed to trim just the coat on his tummy and I believe he already feels better (he's such a teddy bear to the touch there! ), but we'd want to trim the rest of the coat as well. Of course we won't insist if he clearly shows he doesn't want it, but I just wanted to know how you deal with it if you've had similar situations.

We've finally managed to trim him all. Here is a couple of pics. Sorry for a poor quality but I had no better camera at the moment. I never imagined he could be white, lol. I'm glad he feels better now, he even became more active.

Cymrics are often considered a longhaired variety of the Manx cat. Basically, these cat breeds are absolutely the same in all aspects except the length of the coat. Physical characteristics Cymrics are medium to large cats with a well-boned and well-muscled...

I have a hard time just brushing my kitty, nm trimming her. She hates it.

My son ended up doing it (first time she was ever trimmed - years ago) and he did it outside (which I think distracted her since she's usually in the house). When I tried recently she didn't like it so she's like half trimmed. lol Fun times.

That first time she had hers done though, she loved it. You could just tell from the way she acted.

And wow, it IS hot. Humid. yuck!

Your kitty looks so sweet. ^^

LoL do you have her pic please? I was afraid that Barsik would have to walk half-trimmed too, but, fortunately, we finished the procedure. He's kinda funny now anyway.

lol I'd have to take one. You wouldn't believe how long her fur was getting. I managed to do her 'mane' pretty good, but her sides look chopped up. ugh

My son did shave the dog. lmao I have those posted on my website if you want to take a peek.

When I post pics of the cat I'll have to do a before and after, so you can see what I mean.

Brill fella! Doesn't look like a lion but fine anyways. I hope the heat in your place will pass over soon.

How could I miss this thread? Your Barsik look great with the new haircut. I've heard about the hot weather and fires in Moscow. I'm sorry to know that. Is it any better now?

Looking great too! Did your son come up with this himself?
