Dog ate corn cob. Help!!

My sheltie devoured a cooked corn cob tonight. My husband gave it to her thinking she would just eat the few remaining kernels off like she has done with the others but tonight the whole thing is gone. What problems should I watch for? I'm afraid of a bowel obstruction so I have given her 1 Tablespoon of mineral oil to help slide it out the other end.

My pooch did the same but nothing happened after that, why worrying ? Wait for the morning poo, it'll all be there :-)

DOGS DIE from eatin corn cobs. You probably
should have induced vomiting but it may be
too late by NHOWE.
GOOD LUCK.

As much as I hate to say this Jerry is correct. It is very possible that the dog will become obstructed I would call the vet and see if there is anything you need to be doing.other than the mineral oil.

Then give your husband a slap upside the head for doing something so dumb.

LoriLori I know we don't know each other but PLEASE take your dog to the emergency animal hospital tell them your dog got a hold of a corn on the cob. There's a very good chance that even with that mineral oil you gave her that she's not going to be able to pass it & it won't let the other food pass. Most likely she's going to need an xray to see if it's there & exacrly where. Do you watch animal cops? If so did you see the episode of that dog who ate a corn on the cob.

The dog was always outside tied up. No one checked on it. Someone had to call on them because Animal cops came down to investigate & found the dog nothing but bones & dead. The animal hospital did a nycropsy on the dog & found corn on the cob that was blocking food from getting down to the dog's stomach & that caused that dog from starving. Owner of that dog got arrested for neglect. I know it's going to cost & alot of people have a hard time but it's your responsibility.

Please for your dogs sake call your vet & take your dog down

I gave her some more mineral oil today. I have watched her very closely and she has 3 bowel movements today. I'll see what she is like tomorrow morning. There are no vet clinics open on the weekend except for emergency on call which I would use if she had not had any movements of corn.
