Feeding a St. Bernard.
So even after all my research and fact finding on the St. Bernard i still decided to go ahed and get one, Shes about 13 weeks right now, about 35 lbs. Im currently feeding her Nutro Nature's Choice Large Breed Puppy , and thinking about moving her up to the Nutro Nature's Choice Working Breed mix when she's large enough - was just wondering what others were feeding their Saints... ... boy these things grow fast! i got her at 8 wks / 15 lbs!

8-week-old deaf pure border collie
The final red and white pup left of my collie's litter turns out to be bilaterally deaf. I can't keep her (though I'd love to). Does anyone have any ideas how I might find her a home? I wondered whether such pup could play a role in the life of someone who was aurally or orally challenged? Peter

Free Links for Breeders to their Websites...
We designed the Dog Pages to give people a better overall Web resource for dog information and breed descriptions along with a fast, easy method to locate breeders. www.propettransports.com DOG PAGES The Dog Pages are not restricted by the policies or agendas of individual kennel clubs, organizations or groups. Our breeder listing service is free. The goal is simple: To give dog owners, enthusiasts and consumers a central place to find a dog, an event or other related information. We are not a pet store or a chat room. Several other sites are created for those purposes. Instead, we focus upon providing you with the most competent, relevant information about dogs anywhere on the Web and delivering it to you in the best possible manner. Until now, no site on the Web has been able to publish a complete and comprehensive list of breeders and kennels. Lists are partial and incomplete. The Dog Pages will soon accomplish that. When we launch our database, you will be able to instantly find and sort dog breeders by type, location, name or club affiliation - from anywhere in seconds. Each of our individual breed pages will also display links to related kennels. Stay tuned to take it for a test spin. Breeders please register at www.propettransports.com DOG PAGES This is a free site for breeders and your potential new pet owners. We feel that good breeders and responsible pet owners should be able to fine each other without being charged for it. Tell your other breeder friends about this good things come from shareing. www.propettransports.com DOG PAGES

How much companionship does a Havanese...
Having read the faq and finding that Havanese seem to have many traits we'd like in our next dog, I'm concerned that the house is empty approximately 7.5 hours a day during the week. Are Havanese only suitable for work-at-home folks and the retired or can they be played with a fair bit in the morning and evening and be OK crated during the work day? Chris

Shiba Inu report - 8 months later.
Hello everyone! I originally made my first post here on June 10th, 2003, shortly after acquiring my first Shiba Inu (which is also my first dog) jointly with my girlfriend, who is familiar with owning dogs. You can read the original post along with the thread here [link] Just wanted to update and say that my opinion has not changed one bit. I absolutely love our Shiba Inu, and I still strongly disagree with the general consensus of this dog's behaviour. Sure, Kira can occasionally be bad, just like any other puppy (she'll be one year on March 22nd). If pillows are to accessible, she'll sometimes tear the stuffing out of one corner. She cannot be taken out without a leash under any circumstances because she reverts to her flush-out-the-brushwood hunting instincts immediately upon exposure to the outside air. She still nibbles once in a while, but now it's more like she's fleaing your skin rather than trying to gnaw on it. But there are far more positive points... She is left alone from 8:30am - 6:30pm every weekday with both of our cats in the apartment, and I never walk into destruction when I'm home from work. She's always at the window wagging her curled tail when I walk up, and greets me excitedly for the first 2-3 minutes I walk in. She cuddles with my girlfriend and I at night, along with our one black cat Dante. Her and Dante will even share each other's food and water. They have bonded. Every morning when I take her for her morning walk, our other long-haired cat Willow will greet us outside by the patch of woods next to our apartment complex where he spends his nights and Kira and Willow immediately will nuzzle noses and smell each other calmly. They both come inside together. She absolutely loves playing fetch with stuffed animals. She gives our faces a bi-weekly fleaing and shows a ton of calm affection when she's sitting with us on the couch or in bed, licking our faces and nuzzling her nose into our armpits. When we give her treats, she takes them out of our hands slowly and gingerly. Contrary to everything I've read, she's absolutely incredible with children. My girlfriend has a 2 year old nephew that has been exposed to Kira since he was one, and they get along great. No biting, no knocking down, just playfulness. She's dominant with other dogs, but not in a vicious or dangerous way; she simply plays relentlessly until the other dog tires out or they both give up and lay on the floor panting and staring at each other. When we take her for walks, she wants to meet absolutely everyone within a block's vicinity, and even moreso if they have a dog. She's very, very friendly. She's reluctant about it, but puts up with us giving her the obligatory baths once in a while. She'll only break out into that soul-curdling banshee-like yodel/howl towards the end when she's absolutely had enough of being wet. I basically just wanted to say that I really, really love this breed and I'm glad we took her into our home. Maybe the reason I don't understand why it's always said that the "Shiba Inu is not for everyone" is because I'm not everyone. But I can't help but wonder if they're simply just misunderstood dogs. There are 10 pictures of her here: [link]/ Thanks for reading... - * (Email Removed) - -

Finding my ideal Yorkie
I'm at the point of my grieving process where I am thinking of getting another Yorkie. My Yorkie was the sweetest thing, 100% housebroken. I'm afraid his "replacement" won't measure up. I'd appreciate any help in choosing the right Yorkie, that is, where to look, and what to look for. When we got our Yorkie 16 yrs. ago, it was pot-luck, and I don't think I could ever be quite that lucky again. I'm thinking I need to do some homework, I just don't know where and how to look. Thanks, MaryAnn

Pit/shepherd mix questions
Hello, I am trying to find out information on a Pit/Shepherd mix breed. My wife wants to get one and I haven't found any good information yet on the net. We have a 5you daughter, a cat and a lab-mix dog that is 7yo already in the house. What type of behaviour can we expect as the puppy grows? Do these mix breeds tend to become aggressive? How active are these dogs (the puppy is very calm right now)? How large do these dogs typically get? Any links or other resources of info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Dave

What kind of food to feed?
I have a 6 month old female Pit Bull/Bull Mastiff mix. I have been feeding her Purina Puppy Chow and she seems to be pretty healthy. There are so many types of dog foods to choose from and I just have a hard time deciding what is best for my dog. I have read articles and websites about what you should feed, but I wanted to get people's personal experience on what worked best for their dogs. Especially anybody that has PBs or Mastiffs. Thank you.
