Dog car discussion resultsThis is a discussion thread · 27 replies Cate: Verdict: Subaru OutbackI wanted a Toyota Matrix because of the mpg, but my mother pointed out that a dog, a car seat, luggage, and a stroller wouldn't fit in there, no matter how much I wanted it to. So, a 2001 Subaru Outback with low miles, bought from a luxury dealer who priced it much lower than blue book value. It's black, with gold trim and gold alloy wheels. Sort of pimpy, but not as pimpy as the Pimp Jeep, who has gone to the great auction house in the sky (or Florida). Its name: SubaRuth. ObDog: Orson's still getting his sea legs in the new car. Cate

Tee: Congrats. I think you'll really like it as I know two people, one who does alot of rescue transports, who have them. My family used to own nothing but Subarus when I was growing up. They are hard as hell to kill...which is a good thing. I just lost my 7.5yo Stratus to a god war. The Clutch God, Transmission God, Rear Main Seal Goddess & Head Gasket Goddess were all thundering after my car. I ended up with a new Explorer. Its pretty, and nice, not in my top 5 choices, but the most affordable (and I don't consider it affordable at all if that tells you anything).Tara

They are hard as hell to kill...which is a good thing.[/nq]Yes, a car known for its fortitude is what's called for here, considering it's one giant dog crate, and considering that if I'm lucky, I'll remember to change the timing belt before it totals the car a fate I didn't escape with Delores, my beloved VW GTI. I just lost my 7.5yo Stratus to a god [nq:1]war. The Clutch God, Transmission God, Rear Main Seal Goddess & Head Gasket Goddess were all thundering after my car.[/nq] Those assholes. I once rented a Stratus and was surprised how much I liked it. I ended up with a [nq:1]new Explorer. Its pretty,[/nq] Pretty is v. important. Cate

Marcel Beaudoin: Note adjusted subject line[nq:1]Nothing yet, just planning. And crossing my fingers.[/nq] Well, everyone knows that pregnancy is catching, so if it is as catchy over phone lines/patch cable as it is in person, everything should work out well. And to bring this even further off topic, Gen got an ultrasound on Friday, and we do in fact have a peanut inside her!! I am currently working on getting it in electronic format so I can show it off.
