![]() Dog tear stains? This question has been answered · 8 replies Hi, good day! Do you have good ideas about how to remove dogs' tear stains? My puppy has really terrible stains! I've tried several methods like cleaning her eyes everyday, using medicines, changing dog food~etc. Cheers ![]() Participant51 Approved answer (verified by Ruslana) The reason of tear stains is excessive tearing. So you must find out why your dog has excessive tearing, Dinosaur, and cure it. Otherwise, the problem can always be there if you try to get rid of the consequence and not the reason. Excessive tearing can be caused by genetic limitations - as Onyx has mentioned, - but also by health problems, fleas, bacterial infection, irritation, bad food or water (it's high mineralization), blocked tear ducts, etc. Only a vet can determine the true reason, and then prescribe a right cure. Before that, you should keep the eye area clean on a daily basis to prevent any problmes such as an infection. By the way, the stains you can see are caused by red yeast bacteria... in case you're interested. Just keep bathing her eyes with lukewarm water that's all you can do really ![]() Regular Participant188 ALL REPLIES onyx: Hey Dinosaur!I think it's rather individual.
