I have an about a year+ female chocolate lab, probably pure, who needs a companion in the Kansas City metro. She had been confined to a roof, and wasn't adequately watered. She's originally from Seattle, and the former owner is out of the picture. She knows how to sit, lie down, come, fetch, and is housetrained. She's completely accustomed to being in the living room She has a kind, happy disposition being a little on the calm side for a lab. Call me anytime if you want to see her. In Kansas City, Kansas 913 371 6383 home 816 668 8581 cell If this post is old when you see it, and you still are interested in getting a dog, call me anyway. We usually have a boarder or two who need permanent homes. ** * Nehmo Sergheyev * ** [link] Talks.htm

I guess I'm posting this because I need some help thinking it through. Please read this carefully before you reply. I really don't need any lame answers. My neighbors bought a puppy, which they treat like a stick of furniture. They never walk it, play with it, or give it any attention. They do feed it, but I've had to remind them to do it. I felt sorry for this adorable little puppy, whom everyone seems to love as he is a real charmer. I feared that if I complained they would simply drop the pet off at a shelter and it would be euthanized. So, I started walking the dog, playing with it, buying it toys, helping to feed it. I haven't gotten a dog myself because my lifestyle is unstable, both ecomically and physically. I didn't want to subject a dog to this, or myself. Now I am emotionally attached to this dog and he is really so loveable. The latest is that the landlord and others have been complaining about the dog who barks at them and nips at their heels in a playful way. He is not biting, but is a border collie and this is the way he tries to get people to stop and pay attention to him. The landlord and others egress their ajoining property through our back yard. The owner of the dog has been keeping the dog chained and I have been lengthening the chain, feeling sorry for the dog in the 100 degree plus heat. There is shade, but not much room to run around. So, I have become the bad guy for letting the dog have a few more feet to run around. It is illegal in our city to chain a dog outside. (anti-censor askldfjadkfjwe0raoerrjaksdjfklja;kdfjaksdjfkasdfjjkej dajfkasdjfkdjfje9r9edanc adflkjaskdjf dkfjskdfj-edkfakfj sda flkjf dlajkfe9-as=f=fsdafdlfjlkjfkl) In response to our landlords complaining and threats about the dog, I finally wrote him a check for $50 to buy materials for a section of fence to complete a old fence that was partly taken out by him and partly destroyed by another neighbors dog. I helped put in the fence which a good day's work. Now I see that the dog no longer has to be chained, but really has not much more room to run about than he had before, but at least he has no chain to get caught on things. I am however worried that he will eventually figure out a way to break out of the fencing. Now the owner of the dog, the one who ignores him and TWICE I caught him abusing the dog by playing rough with it to the extent that it shrieked in pain-he now is careful to watch out for me, since he knows I despise this kind of treatment. If I video taped it, I could have him criminally charged for animal abuse. Now the owner is *** off at me for fencing our backyard for the dog. I think it's because we didn't get his approval or he wants the backyard to be open. He rarely, if ever uses it. I am really tired of all this. I don't want to see the dog given up to some shelter, but it is starting to cause me real problems that I don't need. Plus it is getting to be expensive. If anyone has any good ideas on how to deal with this situation, I'm all ears. I would like to stay on good terms with this neighbor, but it's getting difficult.

I had to go to the pound today. I was just doing some license paperwork, but over here in Kansas City, Kansas you get your license at the pound. Animal Control (913) 321 1445 3301 W ParkKansas City, Kansas 66102 Map: [link] I asked if I could see the dogs. There weren't that many compared to other places I've been. I'm guessing there were about twenty-four. As soon as the door opened, they all came to life. They knew I could get them out, and they knew they weren't in a good situation. Not one of them was a vicious stray. They all had been pets or something like that. Many of them were acting happy, but it was not a happy occasion. One older female, like a setter maybe, quietly and politely pleaded with me. She wasn't begging. She was just scared. She was very scared. It was obvious. She was an older dog, and she wasn't used to this. Perhaps she was a little sick. I couldn't even pet her. I felt like I was imposing on the guard's time. I was about to break-down publicly. I left. It costs $61 to bail out a female and $51 for a male. They come with a coupon good for a spay or neuter and a rabies shot. At this pound, a dog only has 3 to 5 days to live. If you're in the Kansas City metro, and you've got a little extra space and a few dollars, go down to the pound. ** * Nehmo Sergheyev * ** [link] Talks.htm

There is a beautiful, fluffy Alaskan Malamute in the stray area of TLAC about to be killed. She is an owner return. Apparently she "bit" a 1-year-old (we don't know the circumstances the number the owner left is "disconnected") - but is fine with older children and dogs. We are desperately looking for a foster or adopter for her, and will pull her as rescue, but have no place to put her as we are all overflowing with dogs!! Please email me at (Email Removed) if you have any interest or leads. Thank you! Connie City Tag#: none TLAC ID#: A194639 Breed: ALASK MALAMUTE / GERM SHEPHERD (they always say that) Markings: BROWN / BLACK (sable) Gender: SPAYED FEMALE Date Found: 07/12/2003 [link]/ Connie Witt Texas Alaskan Malamute Rescue [link]/

My mother-in-law has a 11 month old Dachshund and he wants to lick you all the time. It really drives you nuts. I have a Dachshund and she doesn't do this. Does anyone know how to stop this? or is this a health problem, and for such a young dog his breath is bad. Thanks

I'm looking for ideas about toys or games that I can with my 1year old Shiba Inu that will stimulate his mind a little more than just having a bunch of chew toys & rawhide around. I don't know if there are a lot of things available, but he's got one of those plastic pyramids that if he tips it the right way, food comes out. Aside from enjoying the food, I can tell that he likes trying to figure out how to make it work. Are there any other toys that stimulate his mind, and kind of give him a "project" to do? I don't expect him to put together a 200 piece puzzle on his own, but there must be some things out there... I'm thinking of things he can use when I'm not home, but also welcome suggestions about games other than fetch when I'm there as well. Thanks for any ideas.

What birth control methods are there for dogs? We do not want to mutilate (cut) our pets. Separation is not some thing we want to do because of stress to our pets. In researching the issue we have learned of a diaper and a hormone shot. The hormone shot is not some thing we want to do because of possible adverse affects (risks) now or in the future. Most of the veterinarians we talk to do not recommend the hormone shot. We want a method that works and is proven not harm our pets (male & female). We want what is really best and natural for our pets. Some humans seem to think humans know better then what is natural, experience tells us when humans mess around with nature unexpected and unwanted results do occur. In the hope of avoiding people making incorrect assumptions about our intentions with our pets in the past or in the future ... A little history:Our original intention was after lots of research (2 - 3 years) to have 1 litter when the Chicklet was over 2 years old and then 1 litter when she was over 4 years old & keep 1 or 2 pups of the last litter. Our pets have been successful in ruining our breeding plans 2 times out of 4 and Chicklet is only 2 years old now. We want to stop any more litters and not mutilate / cut / hurt our dogs. We never hit our pets. Training methods for our pets are patience and repetition. It some times requires more time and effort. We feel it is well worth the time and effort. We did / do crate train our pets when young and now allow our pets unsupervised freedom to most areas of our home. Our pets will live out their lives with us until death separates us. We also want to share our experiences ( [link]/ ) with others and share other peoples experiences. Time and money do restrict what we can do with [link]/ Any constructive suggestions, volunteers out there? One last note: If you do not agree with how we feel we can respect that, all we ask is please respect us and do not flame (name calling and swearing etc...) us. We know humans can participate in a discussion with out flaming other humans they disagree with. We are only humans and we do make mistakes. Thank you all! Hi, My name is Bill and I am trying to figure out the whole mess of gourmet dog biscuits out there and what people like for their dog. I do make my own but what I think is irrelevant to what people out there want. Please if you will, tell me about your dog and what he or she likes in the way of biscuits. I would really like to know. What all do I need to buy for my new Golden Retriever pup. I did not know if "Goldens" liked certain toys, where they like to sleep, what they like to sleep on. What are their bad habits. What am I in store for?? And are they smart, easy to train, do they LISTEN? Thanks!!! Jennes

For many years, I have wanted a dog, but considering that I lived in apartments, with very limited backyard, I did not really pursue the matter. But now, being the owner of a house, I have a nice backyard (fenced soon), I am starting to seriously look into getting a dog. I have had pet (indoor cats and have one now) before, and never where they given away or put to sleep because I did not care for them or didn't want them anymore, but I don't want to find myself with a breed of dog that I could not take good care for. My preferences are more toward labrador/retreiver size, and nothing in the "pocket size" types, but not knowing enough about the different breeds, maybe something else could fit me. How would you suggest a "newbie" to the dog world, start looking to match to himself and his lifestyle the new pet? Thank you for all pointer and information you could provide me with! Serge Ayotte
