I have a 3 yr. old female dachshund who is overweight and I have been trying to stick to her diet. The past 5 nights (just at night when we are in bed) she starts panting and her heart is beating very fast. She has me give her water, but about an hour later she starts panting again and looks at me like she is scared. This goes on all night. My vet suggested 1/2 a Benadryl at bedtime. That worked only 1 night, now even after Benadryl she does the allo night panting. Could this be a panic attack?

Hello, I would like to pick the perfect dog as an addition to our family. We would like one that does not smell, and is a small to medium sized, such as a a beagle, labrador, or spaniel. Also, one that is not dominant, is timid, and does not bark as much, and does not require lots of activity. Also, one that is very sociable, and good with young children. Quite a large wish list isn't it Does anyone have any suggestions as to breeds that might be suitable please?

Hi, my dog is now 10 and over the last few weeks has started to rip flooring up pull things down from benches etc when we are not at home. He is also very unsettled and seems to want me to be with him all of the time. His breathing is a bit heavy and he shakes a lot. Any suggestions thanks.

Well, a few months ago, my cat Nibbler vanished. We do not know what happened to him. And we were only like a day from getting him fixed. He left the house Sunday afternoon and just never came back. Well, after about a month or so, I decided on getting a new dog. She's still a puppy and a bit hyper but she is really good with our other animals...too bad they don't like her. We're actually getting rid of our male Chi because he keeps jumping on her for no reason. He did it this morning while I was on the floor with the baby and came close to biting my son...that was the tipping point for me. Now, when I say get rid of, I do mean re-homing of course. If all else fails, we'll take him to the shelter near where we live. It's a no kill shelter and I am sure he will do better in a home with maybe not so many animals.

My fellow dog lovers, have you ever wondered how much of a true dog lover you are? You can check it now and add your observations too. It must be fun. You are a true dog lover if... Your dog sleeps in your bed. You apologize if you have to move it a bit. Talking to your dog, you call yourself Daddy or Mommy. Nothing can be seen through the rear window of your car because it's all in noseprints of your dog. You call your dog with 32 different names and none of them makes sense. But your dog responds to them. You like people that like your dog. You despite people that don't like it. In your pocket, there's always a treat for your dog. You always put a second cover on your bed so that you dog feels most comfortable. You choose furniture, carpet, and clothes so that they suit your dog. The only photo on your work desk is a photo of your dog. You read people lectures about how responsible one should be raising up a dog. You do that any time you get a chance. You miss your breakfast to have a chance to walk with your dog before going to job. You are the only man in the street when it is raining cats and dogs - it's all because your dog needs walking. In the end of the day, you don't drink beer with your co-workers anymore because you have to rush to your dog. Your weekend plan is to walk with your dog (for both Saturday and Sunday). Your fridge is full of bones for your dog. You've never eaten all of your beefsteak or fried chicken - you share it with your dog. You don't hoover your flat as long as possible because your dog is afraid of the hoover. You keep on eating even if you've found some dog hair in your plate. When your dog gets older, you make some steps for it to ease climbing on to bed. When your husband and your dogs snore, it's your husband who grabs the pillow to sleep somewhere else. Your dog is the star of your website!

So, I went to let my dogs out to go pee and there was this stray dog just sitting there. The dog is friendly but I am concerned. Her abdomen is rigid and she is acting very lethargic. She is also thin but won't eat. I tried feeling for babies but didn't feel anything. It's almost 11 at night here so my vet isn't open. I'm a little concerned. She's in the house right now laying on our couch.
