How things have changed without my black dog! This is a discussion thread · 16 replies 1 2 Janet Boss: I always knew Franklin was a huge presence here, from the moment he walked in the door at 8 weeks old. Since Lucy was here first, her behavior has stayed pretty much the same over the years. Rudy, OTOH, hadn't know life here without Franklin. I think it will be interesting to watch him evolve and eventually become the big brother. One thing is that I thought Rudy was an early riser. Our alarm goes off at 6 M-F, so he gets up then, which I expect from the pee-machine. Here it is Saturday, with no alarm, and there was no big black tail thumping against the bedroom wall at 6:45-7. I think we slept until 8:30, and then it was DH who needed to get up, not Rudy. DH dripped some latte foam on Rudy this morning, and there was nobody to lick it off. At least not immediately. Lucy finally decided it was a good idea. No singing to the coffee grinder, Law and Order or a bunch of other sounds. My weird little Carey cat is now obsessing over Rudy, since she doesn't have Franklin to climb onto anymore. Rudy is not quite as tolerant as Franklin, and she's not liking that. Rudy has graduated to have his food bowl in Franklin's drawer. He's still a bit confused about it, but I think he'll be in the groove in a few days. I still reach for 3 Itty Bitty Buddy Biscuits at bedtime, but I know I'll adjust eventually. Franklin was not a barker, but his presence was so big that nothing was quiet. There's no more scrambling for the perfect toy to take outside with him on a potty break, then sitting and chomping on it, acting like he had never gotten outside in the last year. So many things, so many thoughts. Janet Boss www.bestfriendsdogobedience.com

Each dog has such a strong personality and presence. Thank you for sharing some of Franklin's gifts.
