Tee: [nq:2]I can't use off-site storage until its archival time.[/nq][nq:1]Stuff that you can't move offsite but you'd like to protect can be made safer by putting them in the refrigerator or freezer. Mind you, I'm not sure what your husband would think of your stuffing the freezer full of paper.[/nq] Hey that's an excellent idea!!! Don't much care what hubby thinks about it. Its my livelihood and important info about other people's businesses. He gets to take his trailer full of tools on an evacuation so I get to preserve stuff too. Tara

dogsnus: i can take elliott, or i can take the big box[nq:1]o' family photos. hmmm.[/nq] I don't think we did this because we were Boy Scouts as much as we're just overly anal-lytical about these sort of things... We invested in a flatbed scanner and scanned every single, irreplaceable photograph we own,and put them onto CDs. A backup copy of each resides in a safe deposit box and the originals are sealed in plastic,to guard against moisture and mold damage down here. (some of these are photographs over well over 100 years old and are very suspectible to moist elements.) We really should put them into the box as well, but haven't done so yet. It will, of course,do nothing to protect them against fires or high winds. (Hence the backup discs.) But it does alleviate the fear and dread of trying to save irreplaceable family photographs. The scanner we bought was an HP4570C,which ran around $80-$100. We also take all the new incoming grandchildren photos and when we've got enough of them,we automatically burn them onto a CD as well. Just a thought. Terri For that you need Twinkies and lunch meat. Eternity through preservatives. Terry Von Gease

Cate: [nq:1]LOL. Fridges are ever so much cheaper than wives are and they make little noise so watch out. I can ... will Fancy be permitted to snot it up with her reverse snorting. Heck, the kitchen may become a no-dog-zone I can happily report that with the arrival of my shiny competitor which has a double-door fridge on top and freezer drawer on bottom Orson's days of inserting his face between fridge doors (begging for carrots) are over. The doors on the new one miss his head entirely. So the inside of the fridge has become a no-dog zone. But the door of the freezer below has been, as you say, snotted up by Orson willing himself to grow taller to reach the carrots when the doors open. Cate

Shelly & The Boys: [nq:1]Any suggestions? I've checked out the travel section of PetsMart, buthaven't seen anything workable. I am so grateful for my ... I still had the Honda Prelude. It would have been next to impossible to transport them all in an emergency.[/nq]I'm trying to remember...don't you have a Bravada? A friend of mine has the Rendevous, which I think is built just like the Bravada and she fits two Belgian Sheepdog sized crates in the back, with room for fold-up chairs squashed in the sides (between the crates & the vehicle). There is space, not a lot, but some, in front of the crates. I know that her BSDs are bigger than Madigan, and probably Mackenzie too...I can't remember how big Murphy is.One crate is larger than the other. Like one is a 400 size, and her *** fits in there fine for traveling (not for extended use, though), the other is slightly larger. Could you not put two side by side crates in the back w/ Murph & MacK in them, Madigan in the front like you're doing, maybe the cat's kennel & litterbox on the floor behind the passenger seats and then add a top storage unit for your luggage? Or a small tow trailer? You all down there have my sympathies...I just couldn't imagine all of that happening here & wanting to stay. :-) Oregon may get the occasional earthquake or volcanic eruption, but the beauty of that is that it's a surprise! You don't have to sit around waiting, knowing that it's arrival is immenent... Shelly & The Boys

Leah: [nq:1]I'm trying to remember...don't you have a Bravada?[/nq]Yep. [nq:1]A friend of mine has the Rendevous, which I think is built just like the Bravada and she fits two ... sides (between the crates & the vehicle). There is space, not a lot, but some, in front of the crates.[/nq] There's enough space for the girls to be fairly comfortable in front of the crate. But the crates are too wide to get two in side-by-side. I'll look into the crates that are made for SUVs - I assume they are more narrow. But there won't be any new crate purchasing before next Tuesday. My already depressed finances are attempting suicide. [nq:1]I know that her BSDs are bigger than Madigan, and probably Mackenzie too...I can't remember how big Murphy is.[/nq] They all weigh 40 pounds. [nq:1]Could you not put two side by side crates in the back w/ Murph & MacK in them, Madigan in ... floor behind the passenger seats and then add a top storage unit for your luggage? Or a small tow trailer?[/nq] I don't want the cat wandering around the car, and I don't want him to have to stay in his little travel crate. The big wire crate was perfect for him and his stuff. The problem isn't so much about room (except when considering adding crates), but safe tethering of the two girls in the back. I have a roof rack, but... ... I am SO not good at stuff like this that I'm afraid to try to put anything up there. It'd probably come flying off on the highway, no matter how securely I thought I had it tied down. KWBrown: [nq:1]I can happily report that with the arrival of my shiny competitor which has a double-door fridge on top and freezer drawer on bottom [/nq]I have the black version of this fridge and love it to death. Word to the wise: Don't, when you manage to fill up the freezer compartment, put a block of frozen hamburger on top of the ice-cube tray and slam the door closed. You'll find yourself with a busted wodget on the icemaker... Kate and Storm and Embryo the FCRs
