Lexi's first day

At last, the big day arrived. Lexi came home today! It was rather a long trip to go get him, so the kids got to wait anxiously at home while mom went to pick him up. When I got to his home, he was all cleaned up and ready to meet me. He sat nicely in my lap, and within just a few minutes was wagging his tail like crazy and giving me kisses. In just a couple minutes, we were on the road!
As we drove, Lexi started whimpering and pawing. As I was trying to decide whether he was scratching to make a bed, or trying to tell me he had to go potty, he barfed up his entire stomach contents. :-( Poor puppy. She said she hadn't fed him breakfast, but his stomach still seemed pretty full. Luckily, he missed both his toy and his blanket, so it was an easy clean up and we were on our way again. This time he only whimpered about a minute, and then settled down to sleep. He slept for the whole trip, except for one quick water/potty break.
When we got home, he was set upon by three children my two, and a friend of my daughter. I hovered around anxiously looking for signs of distress, but he loved every minute of it. He'd run from one to another with his tail in the air, and if they backed off, he was right there after them. They played until he dropped from exhaustion. We gave him his blanket and put him in his crate for a nap.
That's how the day went play for a while, nap for a while, play for a while, nap for a while and so on. The last play session was the best he was really full of energy and starting to get comfortable. He seemed to love all his toys, and delighted in tug and fetch. My son was impressed that such a little puppy could pick up a tennis-sized ball. My daughter is working on teaching him "drop it" already, and my son is trying to teach him to stand on his back feet! My daughter wants me to sign Lexi and her up for obedience training.
We did, of course, have a couple of accidents. He's so low to the floor, it's hard to tell when he's squatting! The first was a pee accident, and since he didn't stop when I scooped him up, my hands and his whole rear end got drenched! So he got his first bath today too - lol. DD's friend's dad was there for that one, and said, "You should push his nose in it." Grrr!!! Stay away from my puppy!!! Good thing he wasn't there for the poo accident! Thankfully Lexi did stop that when I picked him up! And finished outside to lots of praise.
He's sleeping in his crate now, ready for another day of excitement tomorrow. Here are some first day pictures.

It sounds like you had a great first day. Here's to more great days to come! And thanks for the pictures, he's adorable. By the way, what breed is he?

Thanks! He's a mix looks mostly cocker. His mom is 20 pounds, so I'm expecting him to stay small.

Thanks. I agree. He was so sweet when he got all tuckered out and just started moving slower and slower. He finally just laid down and fell asleep with three sets of hands petting him!

it sounds like he's settling in quit nicely feisty and unfazed by the kids. i bet he and your daughter are going to have a blast in puppy class!

that sounds about right. he looks a lot* like my first dog a Cocker x Poodle. Miles was a neat little dog. he was small and cute and fluffy, but *all dog. there was nothing toy-like about him.

I really don't see how you can handle all that cuteness! He is just overwhelmingly adorable.
