You need to seriously relax. Pets are a wonderful thing for children to enjoy while they grow up. Stop ranting.

Pets are wonderful but pets are not toys. The decision to take a pet should always be well thought over. In the end of the day it's going to be the pet who suffers if you can't provide it with good care and respect.
I've grown up with pets since I can remember myself and we would also foster sick animals at times at our home but I grew up looking at my mom being responsible and caring for these pets and that's how I learned. I did get to help and even got my own cat for my 7th birthday but no one expected a 7 year old to take care of a cat and no one expected the cat to take care of himself or be maintenance free. I do strongly believe kids should grow up with pets but not when the perants expect not to have any responsibility.
