![]() Maintenance free pet? This question has been answered · 14 replies 1 2 Anonymous: Is there a pet that's mostly maintenance free? Or, which pet requires the least maintenance? My kiddo wants a pet and I want to start discussing it with my husband thank you!Approved answer (verified by Ruslana) No there is no such thing. Plus kids should not own pets they are not toys for a kid to enjoy for a while and then toss away. All animals require devotion and care and most of them live a long time, even fish so if you and your husband are not going to commit to taking care of it or don't have time for it wait for your child to be old and responsible enough to take care of it on his own. ALL REPLIES Anonymous: all animals need time attention and care, if you want to be free from all that don't get a living pet, get a tamagotchiAbsolutely. This is a mistake many parents make and they end up having to care for the animal themselves and unfortunately many "pet presents" end up at the shelters if they're not up for it. Anonymous: There are no zero maintenance pets, but there are some low maintenance pets. Tarantulas need a heat mat and an enclosure. You need to occasionally top up the water in the enclosure so they can drink, remove shed skins, and every few weeks feed an appropriate-sized insect. You could also have a fish tank with white cloud mountain minnows. They need feeding every week or so and the tank occasionally needs a clean, but they are small and don't generate a lot of poo. If you do get a pet, you need to remember it will be your responsibility to make sure it is looked after, and not your child's. I really don't understand why people look for low maintenance pets. I mean I know but c'mon... wake up! It's the same as asking are there low maintenance kids? =) All living creatures need time. ![]() Regular Participant159 Anonymous: well, that is true.but i would have to say that smaller animals such as hamsters and fish would be easiest.and sorry to bust in but if you have any names you would like to suggest for my contest look me up!:):):):):):) hamsters are NOT low maintenance pets no rodents are that's how they end up in rescues or just on the street because people think they are so low maintenance but then start complaining when they smell after not cleaning their itty bitty cage for two weeks. Anonymous: hey me again i had a hamster and the only reason we don't have him is because i have 3 very curios 4 year olds who love opening latches!he was best pet ever he never bit anyone and was the sweetest thing ever...and he was super easy to care 4.Show more
