 my parakeet... intimadated by me?1 replies Anonymous: I have just started training my parakeet and we were going along great! He would hop right onto the perch that I would hold out to him. We were doing so well together that I decided to take training to the next level. When my pet parakeet was in his cage I put out my finger to him and pushed up on his tummy. He suddenly started flapping his wings and darting around the cage. Is he scared of me or is something wrong? Help! Apparently he got frightened by your hand touching him unexpectedly. Try offering him a treat in your hand next time to earn his trust, and remember that he himself should decide to jump on your hand if he likes. Don't force him to do it and don't try to speed up the process by touching him whenever you want. He himself has to decide when he is ready to go to the next level.
