natural mosquito repellant?

So i've heard that air fresheners and the likes are unhealthy for humans and animals, but what about those mosquito repellant tablets? Some brands smell very strong to the point where i end up switching them off coz i cant stand the stink. I have decided to look for natural repellants but cant seem to find anything that looks promising. Do any of you do anything that works?
