Jen:
Hi there. I'm a new member to this group. I recently got a new friend for my daughter and myself named Hope.
She's a Lab/Husky cross (though looks nothing like either...) and is currently 15 weeks old.
I am probably going to be back here asking for behavioural advice over the next few weeks. Emotion: smile
(I'm Jen by the way.)

I hate the email client I'm using. I didn't even know they had one. I paid for Opera, my computer's hard drive and they couldn't find my registration number, but its a good browser as well as mozilla Firefox.

Huh. I found Agent to be a very good, stable, flexible newsreader. Mileage varies, I guess. I *do* know that it's very easy to configure Agent so that it does not automatically send replies by e-mail and to the group. In fact, I believe that's the default, and that you must have intentionally set it to send duplicate replies via e-mail.

You're using Agent, eh?
IMO, there is no better NEWSREADER than Agent.
E-mail client?
Not so much.

Agent is a newsreader, and the email client is just a poor add on. I've been using Mozilla Thunderbird for my email, but I'm still not too happy with it. I do agree Agent is a good newsreader and I've bought every upgrade. I like the fact that multiple newserver's can be added.

Solution:
Use Agent when you read newsgroups.
Use something else when you want to send or receive e-mail.

Easy, eh?

Yes, for Usenet groups.
[nq:1]E-mail client?[/nq]
I never have used Agent as an email client. I belong to about 7 list serv groups and have been using Mozilla Thunderbird. Sometimes I don't accidentally erase the Email To. Just an un intentional mistake.

I like the ability to post on newsgroups and at the same time, email someone who is really sincere on asking a question, so I don't always delete the name. I probably briefly visit 10 newsgroups (Just threads that interest me)...and occasionally you'll find someone say to "email responses as I don't always get back to the Usenet group to read the responses." I've erased your name. Once I do it the first time, Agent seems to remember not to add it.
Personally I always appreciate an email that answers a question I asked. It's at the bottom of all my posts.

Yes, I used Agent for years, so I know what it is. I'm not concerned about your e-mail problems, I'm concerned about your misuse of your newsreader.
[nq:1]and the email client is just a poor add on.[/nq]
I always found that it was perfectly sufficient for my needs, but then, my needs aren't complicated. I have also found it to be astronomical units ahead of Thunderbird on just about every level.
