1. Food rewards You can provide the foods to your pets as reward to encourage your pets dogs to finish the action and behavior. Owners train the dog with some foods in his hands. After the dogs finish the action, such as squatting、sitting、rushing、stopping and coming action, you give the foods to your dogs. Which will let your dogs know that he will benefit from it if he can obey the rules. So as to improve his ability. However, if your dogs are not interested in the delicious foods, this training method does not work. 2. Mechanical method. The training method combines the physical stimulation and pain training. You can pressure your dogs by shaking dog leashes、dog collars、dog harnesses, slapping slightly or petting your dogs so as to make the dogs finish the action. The method are suitable for dogs which have strong nervous system. Although you can make your dogs finish the training, your dogs will reduce the trust to you due to the fear in their mind. Which will lead to negative attitude to the training 3. comparing method The training method combines above 2 methods. You rewards some foods to your pets after you make them finish the action by some mandatory method. I think it is the regular training method which can establish consolidate relationship between you and your dogs 4. Imitation exercise Let the trained dogs and new dogs receive training together which will increase the efficiency of training. The new dogs will learn faster by imitating action from his friends. The method are often applied in the training of working dogs and hunting dogs. 5. The process of training The common training process always begins from the east to hard step by step. The gesture training are regarded as the first course which will increase the interest of your pets to participate in the following training course and obey the command. It is important to choose one place where there is not to noise to make your pets dogs to focus on the training. Too many trainers are not a good for training dogs, because the dogs will receive different commands from different trainers. When the dogs finish the course, please pet the dogs or offer your praise. You should mix your command and gesture together so as to make your dogs to understand your intention. Make sure that the training should not last too long. The article is from Aeman dog supplies [link]

Remember this little guy? If not, I adopted Ezio a while back, and this is the first picture I shot of him - sleeping next to the remote. And now here he is today - still sleeping next to the remote. They grow up so fast.

Hi all! Have there been any mystic stories about your pet? Something mysterious related to protecting your home from unwanted ghosts/spirits? (Of course, if you believe in them in some way, hehe.) Maybe this question sounds too esoteric, but this topic occurred to me after reading kittukittu's post, and I really have a story to share (hence the new thread as I didn't want to go off-topic). In 1994 we moved to a new flat, it was approximately in spring and we didn't have our cat, Barsik, that time. Weird things were happening... sometimes my dad would woke up in the middle of a night because of a very realistic knock on his head. It was slight but enough for him to wake up and wonder what happened. Not once did it happen. Also at night, there were weird sounds from the kitchen from time to time. In summer that year we got Barsik. So what do you think happened then? Everything described above stopped very quickly! Also - I'm not sure if that can be associated with this story but I tend to think it can - Barsik would often literally stare into thin air as if he was looking at something we cannot see, and sometimes it looked like he was watching something move (his eyes were following something - or someone - while there was nothing at all). Has anything like that happened to you? Please share!

Where does your cat prefer to sleep? Today I realized Miky will choose my lap whenever it's available.

Hi guys! I would like to introduce you all to the newest member of my family. I got him when he was 11 weeks and 5 days old from a local shelter. He didn't have a name for a while, untill I started playing Assasins Creed 2 on my playstation. He jumped up, at looked at it for hours. So I decided to name him after the main charachter in the game. Everybody: Meet Ezio:

So I've heard LOTS of stories about rescued cats and dogs being more affectionate pets than their mates that have never been in trouble. By trouble I mean living in the street, starving, injuries, and other really bad stuff like that. They say pets saved from that realize they would have died but for humans and so they appreciate their owners much more. Has anyone here got a story about it to share? If you have an opinion on the topic please share too.

Well, it is done. Smokey died in the night in his favorite resting position. I spent most of the day building the casket and digging. Finally, at 3 o'clock he is properly laid to rest. The other cats seem to know something is wrong with the household. All are trying, in their own way, to give comfort. For that I am grateful. And they are called dumb animals. We will miss the big hair ball.

Hello my fellow pet enthusiasts! This isn't really a pet story, and yet it is. So I thought I'd share it with you guys. I have been a member of the WSPA for years now. I 've had many wonderful opportunities with them, and I've learned so much already. I've helped rescue stray dogs in Athens, and I've learned more through these people, than I ever thought possible. But this morning I recieved a letter. Many many weeks ago I filed in an application to be accepted on a course about different animals and acute vet-care. And amongst about 100 applicants, I was one of the 10 who got accepted. So next week I'm starting up my classes, and if all goes well, I'll be standing with a certificate in my hand in about 10 weeks - which could take me SO many places, to help out the WSPA even more! (I won't be a vet or anything like that, by the way. But I'll be able to help out more than I am now.) I'll keep you updated (if you want to hear more about it) but untill then, wish me good luck!

Hey hey everyone! Whenever I'm having a meal Nola will show up in the kitchen and smell the air as if she's trying to find out what I'm eating, and to possibly have a piece of it. She'll do the same when I'm having a snack! Do your cats do this too? I don't give her table scraps (almost never... OK very rarely when I know it's safe for her!) but she won't cease haunting my food!

Hi guys, Just thought I'd share this small story that made my heart melt. As some of you may know, Barsik lives with my parents as I moved out after marriage. I visit him several times a week when I can (to see my parents too, of course, lol). So this morning I came over and found him cleaning himself. He did it so thoroughly and so passionately that he didn't even notice my entering the room. When I sat on the couch beside him, he finally noticed me, looked up and breathed out such a loud and expressive PURRRR that my heart melted. The warmest and most emotional greeting I've ever heard from him!

Hello there. once upon a time someone told me that if you name your pet with certain letters at the end of the name, it will have an easier time listening to you. This was years ago so I don't remember the letters, but I think it was something like with an I at the end. So like KittIE, FluffIE, SmokIE, TrixIE etc... Is there some truth to this? I find all my pets don't listen to me no matter the name lol Nice page you guys got here btw Alex

Sometimes Magnus and Vincent will quietly hide somewhere for a nap and I may forget about their existance for a couple of hours. Then when I call them they won't respond and won't come out. Several times I thought they escaped, and several times I ended up finding them somewhere in a new and unexpected place where they'd never been before. Do your cats do it too? Getting somewhere and then not responding to your calls as if they were playing hide and seek?

What funny things have your cats done to make you laugh out loud? Today Miky was sitting in the hallway and all of a sudden began to chase his tail round in a frantic circle. He went dizzy and flopped down the stairs while still trying to catch his elusive tail. Don't worry, he wasn't hurt. It looked very funny! Another thing that happened recently is this. I entered a room and saw him in his cat bed, he looked up at me and yawned, did a big long stretch and... fell out of the bed so that it turned upside down covering him. He looked so bemused.
