shelly: [nq:1]I love Sibe ears. (I also love silky hound ears and beautifully marked Dal ears.) They're so furry and thick and they make great handlebars.[/nq]i'm slowly acclimatizing myself to the idea of sticky-uppy ears. i have to admit that Melinda's Image's bat ears are just about the cutest thing going. they've pretty much sold me on pointy dogs. shelly http://home.bluemarble.net/~scouvrette>> http://cat-sidh.blogspot.com Merz is a smile at the grave and gravity on cheerful occasions. Rocky: [nq:1] I was referring to the picture in the fourth row, as I look closely at it now I can see that it's just a long piece of grass or branch in the background.[/nq]Heh! T'would be a pretty weak stream, falling off so quickly. Not a pitbullish stream at all! Matt. Rocky's a Dog.

sighthounds & siberians: [nq:2]I love Sibe ears. (I also love silky hound ears and beautifully marked Dal ears.) I don't recall Image's ears off the top of my visual memory. Tasha has some pretty good-sized ears for a Sibe, not the smallish, close-set ears the show types have. Those are the ones I was thinking of when I said they're great handlebars. Boomer, alas, came with fly-bitten ears that are still scarred. But they're still fun to play with. We have an adopter who has a pointer that they brought along when they picked up their GH. The pointer was running around trying to eat all the dog toys while I kept playing with his long silky ears. I think they thought I was weird, if you can imagine that. I love sighthounds, but their ears just aren't very satisfying. Mustang Sally

Chris Jung: [nq:2]yes, or pit bull mixes, how much pit bull is ... a boxer/lab cross apart from a pitbull. I'd hope so.[/nq][nq:1]You'd hope wrong. And "anyone knowledgeable" would be ... who? I've had the people at my local shelter confuse Australian ... Cornell Vet School Open House. During the time, I kept a rough tally of the guesses as to his breed:[/nq] 14 knew or suspected he was a smooth collie15-16 thought he was a greyhound or greyhound cross 2 thought Borzoi 1 Afghan 1 Scottish Deerhound 1 Irish Wolfhoundand my personal favorite 1 guy was sure he was a Bull Terrier My new smoothie Lucy is small for a collie, only 43 lbs, but otherwise fairly typical in conformation. So far people have guessed (or in two cases, exclaimed in surprise) that she was a chow, a greyhound, a fox and a baby deer (yep, on first glance one lady thought I was walking a fawn down the sidewalk). Lucy occasionally can be a dear but she ain't a dear deer. Chris and her smoothies plus the long term Lhasa visitor Pablo, Lucy and Smudgie

Melinda Shore: [nq:1]Heh. I don't recall Image's ears off the top of my visual memory.[/nq]Image has epic ears. This fails to completely capture their grandeur but gives the basic idea: ![]() Big towering husky ears is more typical of working/racing- type Siberians, and it's pretty common to hear the phrase "Seppala ears." Suja: [nq:1]People confuse dog breeds all the time.[/nq]A lot of people think that Khan is a PB GSD. Still others think he is a PB Sibe. Then there are those who think that he is a Wolf. Of course, it took an 8 year old (I'm guessing her age) to point out to someone who commented on how pretty a GSD he is that he is clearly not a GSD, they don't have coats like that, the carriage of the tail is all wrong, the body structure is all wrong and is most likely mixed with something like a Sibe. Pan has been called a Greyhound, a cow and a pony. Someone on the Dane forum had their fawn Dane mistaken for a Giraffe. IMO, that one takes the cake. Suja
