Jade I click on his name. I click on message and scroll down to block sender. Then I release. It says, do you want to remove all posts by this person? I say, yes. There. Blocked. Until he changes something, or perhaps my machine only blocks for a day, I don't know, but would like to. Then I receive his posts. I know what I do, someone on this group I believe was the one that told me how to do it! So, if you don't mind, unless you can tell me what the problem is, you should cease to tell me that I'm unclear and confused in my postings. Because I know exactly what I'm doing, just not why it's working. If, however, you can see that I am only temporarily blocking him, removing his posts or what not, then please tell me how to do it permanently. I do concede that there may be a permanent solution, as you have obviously found it. Jade.

michael: [nq:1]I am not sure. I do not run Netscape. There are others here that said that they do. Perhaps you can ask them. :0) Jade[/nq]thank you Jade, that was very heelpful. I don't use a computer very much anyway, so maybe I better give up on the whole killfile thing? From what others are saying, it seems pretty hard. shelly is a real wiz with killfiles though. she knows how to killfile all the people who actually know anything about dogs. It's kind of ironic that this censorship is supposed to be about blocking off topic posters, when shelly is the biggest off topic poster in the history of dog newsgroups. LOL! too funny! this is michael

Sionnach: [nq:1]We do have trials in horse arenas, but I've honestly never, ever seen rats.[/nq]I've never SEEN a rat- but Rocsi has told me they're there. Most famously, during a Weavers run this March, she popped out of the poles three times on one 12-set- each time, air-scenting and saying "I smell a RAT! Can I go hunt please?" (She asks to hunt by WALKING a step or two in the direction of the prey she's scented.) On the fourth re-start, she finished the set, finished the course with no further distraction, then ran to the edge of the ring and waited impatiently for me to drop the leash over her head. The second it was over her head, she took off, and dragged me to the spot on the wall she'd been looking at when she popped. (This was a good 25 feet from where she'd caught the scent; well outside the ring.) She started scratching at the steel wall, then lay on her side, jammed her muzzle into the gap at the bottom of the wall, and yanked out a big wad of insulation... sending rat poop rolling everywhere. BTW, she'd been reacting to that spot every time we passed it all day, but not when in the ring- which is why I'm QUITE sure that Mr. Rat came home during the Weavers run. Aside from that, she has shown me rat TUNNELS, but we've never actually seen the rats. [nq:1]I did have a trial where there were a plethora of ground squirrels who would pop their pesky little heads up out of the ground to watch you thunder around the ring[/nq] Oh my. THAT would have been interesting with my girls, I do believe. (Morag doesn't have the nose that Rocsi does, but is equally dedicated to hunting mice, chipmunks, etc. out of doors.) [nq:2]have you seen the glassy-eyed look when they start to ... looping curves in the path, >looking out toward the crowd?[/nq] I've seen that (although not in the few Borders I've seen) and know exactly what you mean... And yeah, it's different from the concentrated look a dog gets when s/he actually catches a scent.

Anonymous: [nq:1]I have a 12 yr. old lab that I play tug with on a regular basis. On the other hand ... and hasn't left a mark on them. Two very memorable events include a bird who fell out of it's nest[/nq]nice. [nq:1]and a turtle that she insisted on carrying all the way home before giving up.[/nq] What do you mean when you say "insisted"? The wording sounds like support for the contention that the game may result in a dog who won't readily "give" or who won't readily cooperate in returning with the item and releasing it. [nq:1]Both were unmarked but a little slimy with slobber.[/nq] That's good. But the story might not have been the same with a duck that was fighting back. These are some great examples of nice soft mouths in the face of playing tug but I don't think they effectively refute the point that tug is not a good game to teach a retreiver engaging in field trials. It seems that the point is to refute the "soft maouth" vs "hard mouth" part of the discussion. But the situations aren't close enough to effectively do so. What I'm seeing by way of examples isn't very related to what the dog is asked to do in field trials. Much of the discussion seems similar to the way people argue the backyard OTCH. The tasks have surface similarities but the difficulty level is significant enough that there isn't a fair comparision between what the OTCH dog does and his backyard OTCH counterpart. John F Richardson: [nq:1]Just curious as to why most of you have put Michael in the same category as TPW.[/nq]Many of us don't. Jerry's a bore. Michael's a hoot. There's something to be said for being a hoot. JohnR Pit Bull Libertarian Never sneer at the power of a little pink squeaky toy!
