Rocky:
[nq:2]As a factoid, Friday is generally 6 yps on a clean Masters (twisty) Jumpers course.[/nq]
[nq:1]That's super! I forget, are your Masters courses more similar to USDAA than NADAC? You don't have weaves in your Jumpers do you?[/nq]
Masters Jumpers can have weaves, but those judges will never be rehired, heh.
AAC is very similar to USDAA, especially wrt to course design. Friday is one of the fastest dogs around (yes, I'm certainly boasting) but I'm not best handler, though when we click we really click.
At the AAC Nationals a couple of months ago, we ended up 82 out of 114 22 inch dogs (the largest class), certainly not a boast, but not bad for us. The courses should be published in Clean Run soon, hopefully with a commentary by Kathy Keats. I ran just after her on Saturday and she followed me on Sunday. I'm looking forward to next year.

Robin Nuttall:
[nq:2]So even a fast tunneler dog won't be going as fast as he will on a Jumpers >course.[/nq]
[nq:1]Um, sorry, Robin, but that's not so. I don't think Bren(who's about the same height as Solo, IIRC) has ever ... to jump, then lower it for the tunnels - and of course he also has to collect more in Jumpers.[/nq]
Okay, I'll take your word for it my dogs run slower because they have to duck to get through the tunnels.

82nd out of 114 dogs? You mean with his speed there were only 32 dogs slower and 81 faster? That doesn't make sense to me...

How tall are they again?
And out of curiosity, how many times have they actually run Tunnelers? Brenin took quite awhile to figure out that he could stretch out and run head-down in Tunnelers, and as he did, his enthusiasm for the class rose - which, naturally, helped to increase his speed, which encouraged him to stretch out even more; sort of a chicken-and-egg effect. There's also the fact that his conformation may be more conducive to it.

OK, I see the tone. I'm actually proud of his 82nd place National placing.
I thought that I was clear that the 6 yps were when we clicked. Plus we sucked at Gamblers.

Skyrocket Cockers:
Okay my info on YPS -
Hunter is currently averageing 4.95 std and 5.15 JWW (16" or Midi) Dice is averageing 3.85 yps std (she has a s-l-o-w table) and 4.95 JWW (12" or mini).
I am tracking it because I am hoping to take them both to the WT Invitational. (Hunter and Dice both took 2nds in the Internationals that count so no bys for us).
For an "at-large" entry:
"Minimum scores/times are as listed below:
1=2E A minimum of 8 standard class scores of 100 and a minimum rate of speed of :
=B7 3.6 yards per second (YPS) - mini dogs (under 13 3/4") =B7 3.7 yards per second (YPS) - midi dogs (under 16 3/4") =B7 4.1 yards per second (YPS) - maxi dogs
2=2E A minimum of 8 JWW class scores of 100 and a minimum rate of speed of :
=B7 4.7 yards per second (YPS) - mini dogs
=B7 4.9 yards per second (YPS) - midi dogs
=B7 5.4 yards per second (YPS) - maxi dogs"
If you are beating those times regularly in EXCB classes you are doing good.
These times however are just to get to try-out - faster times are expected if you have a hope of making the team.
Based on our times, we don't really have a shot, but we aren't totally out-classed either. But I think it will be neat to go, I just need a few more scores!
I find it's apples and oranges to compare say Novice YPS or YPS across different venues.
Some other interesting notes - Dice has a 1.4 sec A-frame, 1.5 s teeter and a 2.1 second DW, her weaves are 3.0 s (these are all in competetion times, and remarkable consistent). All of these are faster in practice, but she still isn't running with the same confidence - which is what you would expect from a dog who turned 2 last Sept. 28th. She isn't running with intensity yet, but I expect that to start coming in the next year.
I find wheeling variation has a large effect on times - Dices and Hunters time really reflect the variation of the judges - usually a course with a low YPS with Dice will also have a lower YPS with Hunter and the other two dogs I travel with.
Oh, and I can keep up with my dogs on everything but straight lines and the dogwalk (which Dice sees as a long straight line). Got to love lateral distance - I am almost never behind my dogs. Hunter will easily work 20-30 awy from me, Dice a little bit less right now.

For small dogs, why not a cocker? While they can be fast, they also are usually very adaptable to the owner, and more forgiving than some breeds in agility.=20

I think she was truly confused. The way you wrote it could have sounded like the ranking was on speed alone, though I assumed it was the cumulative ranking from all rounds. To me, 82nd is awesome, in a highly competitive height class, at his first nationals yet! 6YPS is quite amazing, too.

J1Boss:
I wonder how flyball YPS relates. Obviously, it's a straight course and the jumps are lower. I calculate Franklin at 7.23 YPS for that. Who knows if we'll ever know his agility speed!

24" and 24.5" respectively. Which means that head down or no, they have to duck a bit the tunnels are 18" or at least the ones in our area! And they are fast through tunnels, and they bank but just not quite as fast as they are on the flat.

Hmm. I think Viva has her TN-N and Cala too as you know I really don't keep up with NADAC any more and doG forbid they actually get data out in any sort of reasonable timeframe, May was my last trial. I don't really know, but the girls have both run it a few times.
