Who's better: male or female cats?

This is a discussion thread · 6 replies
Hey friends,

Someone told me that female cats are way better pets than males. Would you say the same by your experience? Briefly, these were the points...

Males
- become mature slower
- more timorous
- wily
- are more likely to be naughty (pee, scratch furniture, etc)

Females
- aren't timorous
- more sociable and active
- more accurate
- more tamed

etc

I myself don't agree with it 100% and want to know your opinion.

Heh, funny..

Maybe you are right, in general. I can't be 100% sure, because I never did a proper research on cat's behavior. BUT, as far as I'm conserned, these things are completely opposite. Emotion: big smile

Here's the explaination: few years ago, my roommate and I deceided to keep two cat's (male and female, ofc). The male one was lazy, clean and sweet. The other one was real chaos, it constantly cept messing around, breaking things and pooping all over the apartment.

In my case I have to agree, my male cat is a lot more work than my two girls put together.
But I have to say I do think for most cats it'll be the breed, not the gender that will make the difference in personality.

I don't have any experience of having a female cat but I must say that my male one is somewhat naughty indeed. Which is more, the older he becomes, the more noticable it is. Perhaps it's just like with humans... or not?

I have had both boys and girls.

The boys seem more loyal and affectionate however Cotton has broke the mould and she is a complete dream Emotion: smile

So I like both.

I personally would have to not 100% agree with this information either.

I have 3 boys and 2 girls, and also loads of past experience with cats. My boys tend to be a lot more cuddly then my girls, they also seem so much calmer and more social then the girls.

Also one of my girls is very naughty, she'll jump on the counter and steal food, go from happy and cuddly to crazy and grumpy in 2 seconds. My other girl is also very shy and used to do her "business" in the bath tub.

In the end I guess it comes down to if you find a cuter name for a boy or girl. Haha.

Looks like, in this aspect, cats have exactly the same spirit as humans - you can easily come across a naughty man or a woman, and it doesn't depend on the fact that the person's a man or a woman! Emotion: big smile
