I've been reading on this subject in this forum and the problems sound similar to what we are going through with our Lab/Border Collie mix. We are pet sitting for a 7 mo old poodle mix who has been in our home for 2 days. Very sweet dog and the two get along. Within 24 hours of receiving our tenant, our dog stopped coming up the stairs from the entry way (we have a split level home). I've tried to coax her with treats, soft encouraging voice, etc. She backs up and it looks like she's going to make the move and she stops. She does not display any signs of physical discomfort and will go up and down the deck steps outside. She's eating and drinking and playing. We carry her up the stairs to the first floor where the food, water and access to the back yard are and now we've just put a baby gate up so we don't have to rescue her from the entryway anymore. Do you think this is because of the new boarder? She's never done anything like this and has no physical disabilities.
