Again, if the pee is warmer than the soup..its just Wrong.

I can understand feeling that way about beer, but what's the problem with cold soup?

Besides being disgusting?
Nothing.

I use one of these from PetEdge: X-Large Poop Scoop with Aluminum Handle : http://tinyurl.com/2xqnop

I use something very similar. The business part on mine has two sides, a rake an a spade. The spade works well for really small pieces of poo.

Same complaints as most everyone else: handles are too short. Also, I'd pay more for one made of super heavy duty plastic (but lightweight) because I leave it outside and it has rusted pretty seriously.

Love: bulky and high in roughage. Goes in one end and out the other. Boy, this is *so* not a good metaphor.

Especially not for a visual person like me...

I gotta agree

Well, thanks everybody for your comments. They have been remarkably helpful.
I've taken a look at a bunch of scooper models, and I have to say that I am leaning towards a
one piece ergonomically shaped, spade shaped shovel, with a bit of a serrated edge (sort of like a rake)
maybe with a detachable end, for longer walks. I'm working on some drawings this weekend, and maybe I can post them
on my website and see what you folks think.
Personally, I went to one of our larger local pet stores and they said tha ttheir most popular model was
the "Four Paws, Allens spring action pooper scooper. I feel like this is kind of an elaborate piece for it's purpose. And it also looks like it might be
difficult to clean, also, it seems to me that the clamping edge might cause quite a bit of mess.
Does anyone here use this model? http://www.amazon.com/Four-Paws-Allens-Scooper-scooper/dp/B0001RW77G .

Thanks again for your help.
And, I guess I'll weight in on the Beet Issue, personally I love em. My grandmother always made the most delicious pickled beets, they tasted almost like candy to me. I ate so many once that I actually pee'd red (probably one of the more traumatic moments of my childhood)

I don't like those types. If you have to pick up more than one pile of poop, you have to do something with the poop you already picked up first. If you have multiple dogs, a dog who poops while moving, or even if you have one dog but just don't pick up poop twice a day, those types of scoopers are a PITA IMO. I like to have a scooper than can hold all the poop I need to pick up, whether it's one fresh pile, or more.

Yes, I think I would like that type. It would have to be made of metal for me to buy it and have a slightly oval end to it to dig with or try to pick it up in tufts of grass, but broad enough to hold a large poop. I would use that same shovel to dig a hole and bury it someplace in the ground.
