um, yeah, that's kind of a different story.

i don't see that the number of dogs makes a difference. nor does it make substantial difference whether it's a human or another dog that is the victim, in terms of identifying whether or not the law was broken.
i can't imagine what weapon you could use to get six dogs off you. maybe scare them off with a shotgun or something.

depending on the woman's health and mobility, and the size and aggression level of the dogs, she may not have been able to fight off even one of them. if that had been the case, i doubt the experience would've been any less horrible for her than being attacked by six or even 60 dogs..

The 76-yr old lady who died last week was in ... dog, there was apparently a pack of six or so.

um, yeah, that's kind of a different story.

Only in numbers, not in kind. Asserting that "a human seeing an aggressive dog would probably get away from said dog" puts the responsibility for the attack on the human victim.

No one, fit or unfirm, young or old, should be subjected to attack by a dog or many dogs.
that really sucks. were these feral dogs? or local dogs who had packed up?

Local dogs packed up, according to the news story I read.
i hate to see stories like this! i can't imagine what weapon you could use to get six dogs off you.

Purely speculation, but I'd try to get my back to the wall and have an axe, shovel, or baseball bat. Try to take down the first couple that rush you, and expect to lose some flesh in the process. God, I hope I never have to test that theory.
maybe scare them off with a shotgun or something.

Shotguns require reloading. Handgun, maybe, and were I skilled in its use I wouldn't be trying to scare 'em. Gun or bat, I wouldn't risk just pissing them off.
I didn't see this post until now. It's probably a good thing you stopped responding to the thread; you're failing in your ambassadorship for your breed.
Read the original post. I looked outside first and couldn't see the dogs behind some tree branches. Are you faulting me for not having x-ray vision? Or for not phoning my neighbors to inquire if their dogs were already out? Or for not inspecting their yard in person before letting my dog out for a ***? It's gotta be one of those three. Oh wait there's a fourth possibility: I'm at fault for not cutting down my neighbor's tree so I can more accurately see into their yard to watch for their known aggressive dog!
I did not fail their dog or them. Or you. Or your breed. What their dog did is THEIR fault, not mine. I failed my dog, myself, and my husband. And by not reporting the incident to AC, I may have failed someone yet to be known.

sorry, that wasn't my intent. i was just thrown for a loop by a previous post.

certainly this is true.

no kidding!

i'd hope the noise of a gun would help, but who knows. scary stuff. i think i'll just keep my dogs with me to protect me, thanks. :-)

It's "infirm", isn't it? Then again, I suspect there're more squishy people than sickly ones, at least in the U.S.
