For anyone familiar with flyball - Franklin achieved his ONYX (20,000 points) title this weekend, in just over 3 years. I've very proud of him. All he knows is that he's having fun. He's the 5th FCR to achieve this, and hopefully will earn many more points in the next few years!

Fantastic! And especially so because you both had fun doing it.

Yep - that's the idea! Despite Diddy's backhanded compliment, LIFE is a GAME to Franklin, and hopefully, to me too - enjoy life, don't take much too seriously, and have fun!
Of course, I come home tired and achy and sometimes say (or think) "I do this because?!?!?" And then I remember - it's not for the points or the cheapy prizes or the ribbons, but because we have a blast doing it! There's FRIENDLY competition, which is my favorite kind, and we're all having fun.
Rudy's just learning, but hopefully he'll have flyball brags too, someday, along with some field stuff.

I think this sounds absolutely IDEAL! Congratulations, Janet and Franklin!!

I feel for ya. My group of 10 put on an agility trial this weekend, about 350 runs per day and we finished at a good time both days. But, boy am I sore from being on my feet so long.

Friday missed his ATCh by a dropped bar, but picked up two Qs on Standard runs and got his Steeplechase title. A few other misc Qs were picked up by Rocky and Friday. We had a pretty good weekend.
In Jumpers, most handlers put $2 in the pot towards the fastest and cleanest run. Friday was the fastest until the second to last dog. Friday was 25.60 seconds. Flip (an older Sheltie) beat us by 5 hundredths of a second.
As you say, it's a game; I loved losing to a way better handler because it's always a gas to watch humans and dogs working so well together.

my last flyball tournament was a few weeks ago. CONCRETE flooring. My legs and feet were killing me. We were the hosting team, so it was setup and cleanup besides racing, and I post scoring - which was just more walking back and forth than I tend to do on such a hard surface! At least this weekend, we were on turf and sport court. Of course, the dogs get cushioned rubber matting over whatever it is.

Even though I still don't know what all the agility categories are, it sounds like you had a good trial! And yes, watching handlers and dogs communicating and having fun, is what it's all about.

as am impartial observer in the interworkings of rpdb, I'd call that a backhanded compliment. Am I wrong?

No. I thought about commenting on Diddy's mixed messages as well, but decided to let someone else go first, lest ... as she can get. And by the way, congrats on your home visit approval. Not that I had any doubts.

Oops. And congrats to Janet and Franklin, too, of course.
