Hi, I live in Calgary, Alberta and I have a very sick very old dog who seems to be in pain a lot of the time.
He's started to lose control of his bowels and bladder too We were told last year that it was close to his "time" My problem is that it's killing us to see him suffer but can't afford to but him down> Is there any low income possibilities for him. The humane society doesn't do public euthanasia.

Give up your internet access for two months or so. That should cover the bill.

Question of priorities, isn't it?
You can afford a computer and Internet access but you can't afford to ease your dog's suffering. Right.
(Hint: most vets charge <$100 for this.)

What is your relationship with your vet? I know that if i couldnt afford it my vet would do it and let me pay a bit off each week

Good heavens! I have just posted a note asking for advice on this thread! I expected people on a pets thread to be friendly!

I think that I had better look for a different site.

How can you expect people who love dogs to be sympathetic to someone who doesn't care enough to make a little sacrifice to allow their dog meet his end in comfort, dignity and with respect - if there's nothing else in life you can give, you can at least give that.

I think you are incredibly selfish. Last October I lost one of my beloved Collies at 16 1/2. Our dogs give total devotion with no questions asked and if we can't return their love by allowing them to go with dignity then we shouldn't invite them into our homes and hearts in the first place.

You should be a little more careful about where in the thread you insert your comments. It looked like you were taking Diane to task for her suggestion, and quite obviously you must really have been addressing Metis-Artist.
