HB 1895, "The Deeds Not The Breeds Bill," has just passed the Washington House of Representatives by a vote of 91-3.
this will prevent insurance companies from discriminating against dog owners because of their dog's breed. this is a major victory!

now on to the senate...

I sincerely wish you the best of luck. I am just realizing what a huge problem we have on our hands with regards to AR people trying to get into legislature what happens to our dogs, and I don't mean just BSL...

Oh, I'll try not to hold my breath but geeze it sure is tempting. Accomplishing that would be truly huge.
I just turned down the first web site I can remember that was specific to therapy dogs, because they happily accepted excluding dogs from the programs based on breed. The guy told me I shouldn't get political if I wanted to support AAT. I told him it was too late, I already WAS political, and I support DOGS, AAT is just one route to that destination.

Yeehaa! Maybe someday I'll be able to get my dream Rottie after all (my insurance company bans Rotties, Chows and pit breeds).
now on to the senate...

Time for me to write a letter/email.

I think that was pretty obvious by the article Suja posted on the Westminister. And more and more people are adapting to their way of thinking without even realizing it, IMO.

It was accomplished in Michigan. Michigan insurance companies can no longer deny insurance coverage or claims just because someone keeps a specific breed on their property.
