I don't want to shop from dealers. I have two lovely girls, a 'normal', and an albino, that I bought from a nice man who doesn't have any males who'll eat f/t, and he's tried them. I HAVE a male, that I bought from a ###@@***%^!! and he won't eat at all. Brumated him, still nada. He's 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door.'

Only folks on this list or folks you know well, please. I just don't want to shop the reptile pages and get acquainted with strangers now; I don't feel lucky.

Good luck, I've been trying to find an albino or snow bullsnake female with no luck so far. Emotion: sad
Have you tried using rats with your male? My female whitesided wasn't eating for awhile, then I tried a small hopper rat-she went right for it!

Kurt - Do I remember Phil D. breeding gophersnakes? Or was it hognose? Or is my brain playing games with me?

I do not know how you keep your snakes, but on the off chance you house them together, I have found that this can inhibit feeding in the bull and gopher snakes. Generally only one animal per cage would feed enthusiastically, the others would eat reluctantly or refuse food altogether. After separating mine, I find that after a few weeks they become much more vigorous feeders. If you are keeping your gophers housed in pairs or groups, you might consider separating them to see if you get a stronger feeding response.
Just an idea, I am still not sure if this is common to all Pituophis or was just a fluke with my snakes.
Best of luck,
Luke

To email me, take out the trash.

So far the 4 Pituophis snakes I've housed here (all seperately) were all garbage disposals.
Maybe they don't like the sweater boxes?

Thanks, Luke, I don't keep them together.
"All" I keep together is my overwhelming unsexable sunglow corn, Sunny, that I bought from Cat and my 'normal' ratsnake, girl, Cher of course, that Don Soderberg rescued and passed on to me.

The '03's are all in their Boaphile sweater drawers though some will have to come out soon..they are growing TOO FAST!

(And no, I don't powerfeed, I feed once a week.)

If they don't like the sweaterboxes they are poop out of luck; they were started in shoeboxes. Around here, you take what you get; sweaterboxes almost doubled their accommodations. I really can''t offer them the Ritz Carlton of tanks; I have five adults in 40-L's and a milksnake girl in a 20-L and that's as good as she gets.

I have a gorgeous 37 with rocks and a 55..in the rear with the gear.

It's the housespace I don't have.
I have ten dogs. Emotion: smile
