Hi, someone told me that adult cats have a really strong stress when they get to a new owner, but what about kittens? Are they more adaptable? Till what age do they keep this streak?
Kittens don't hold onto that flexibility for very long. When my cat had kittens five years ago, we kept all of the kittens until six months of age so we could have them all neutered before rehoming them. They were already very settled and happy with us, so sending them off was very traumatic for them, as well as for me. I talked to their new mom not long after and she said it took them about two weeks to settle in with her.
I'd think it depends more on the cat's personality. Some get used to new surroundings and new people faster, some need a longer time. It's like with people. Emotion: smile
