"In a news release last week, Best Friends said it supports Grimes in her efforts to have all charges dismissed."

Also funny is the prior statement by Grimes where she said (paraphrased) that she is ready to accept all consequences of her actions. Guess she really isn't. Marcel and Moogli http://mudbunny.blogspot.com /

Not to mention, I believe she is facing felony charges correct me if I am wrong. But they say she is justified to commit an offense to prevent a greater wrong, when they themselves say it would be a first degree misdemeanor if the dog was tortured, which I feel there is no evidence of, they are just using the word to draw more sympathy than normal. But the funny part is, I didn't know a misdemeanor was a greater wrong than a felony.

I'll pass it around.

If they don't prosecute her they are saying, you can take anyone's pet, as long as you don't think it is being treated right.

Exactly why I think it is so important that they hit her with the full punishment possible. If they do anything else they will be setting a poor precident for the future. It needs to be made clear in this very public case, since she felt the need to make it so publicized, that stealing a dog is never an option. It is never acceptable to commit a crime to prevent something you feel is wrong.

I think if you were to make stakes/tethers illegal, the abuse and neglect would simply move indoors.
Out of sight, out of mind, and more likely unreported.

Plus there'd likely be more lost strays.
I don't see it really helping anything.

I tether my beagle on a trolly line when she goes outside. She spends most of her old age years sleeping on the couch. I would hate to see tethersfor tethers sakes being made illegal
She lives in a fence, but she escapes.
I think a 10 x 10 kennel is everybit as inhumane as a tether
