There is an interesting and rather lengthy article in today's Washington Post (Style section) on the Westminster KC dog show titled 'Whoops, Is That Your Tail? A Day at the Pooch Pageant'. You can kinda tell what the tone of the article is from the title.

Interesting article Suja.
Did you watch it. There were several very young dogs there. One being 22 months old, I forget the breed and I swear in the non-sporting division there
was an 11 month old dog. It almost seems
like it was the French bulldog? I kept
falling asleep though.
I missed the toy division awards?
I know the peke came in first, which I
seriously did not see that dog as being
that nice. Seems as though a lot of the
same dogs that placed last year, like
the same Poodle and same Newfie placed
this year.
Who was 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in
the toy division?
As was thrilled the Akita got 4th in
the "Working group". He was quite
a stunning dog. Actually I personally
think he should have been 2nd but who
am I?
Gwen
I don't like Pekes, but keep hearing how wonderful that dog is. It's wasted on me. :-)

That Newf is awesome! And I'm hoping Bunny will be present tonight. What a gorgeous girl she is.

I fell asleep also. :-) I really liked the LH Chihuahua, and, of course, the yorkie.
We were rooting for Dickens, the AST. I have his litter brother {and Winston's sire}, Blazer, for OB board/train. Dickens is a former agility student, and his 'niece', Bug, is here on an agility board/train. Dicken's and Blazer's litter brother, Bullet, won BOB there in 2001, I think. Owner-handled.
All in the family.

That Newf is awesome!

Boy, I'll say. I was rooting for him last year and I will be rooting for him this year. I love Newfs anyway, but what a charismatic dog.
That Doberman was a beautiful dog, too.
The dog that won the Siberian class has won breed at Westminster before, as well as opposite sex. I didn't think he looked all that good last year, but this year he's looking awfully fit and is carrying himself with a lot more presence, and I was disappointed that he didn't get a group placement.
The NY Times has a multimedia slide show on Westminster that's kind of cute (although they misidentify a Samoyed as being a "Whitehorse Yukon"). It's accessible through the sports section.

That he is, but I really did like that Akita. But I was happy the Newf got it just the same.

You and me both. He was strutting his stuff. I loved him. It made me want one some day. Then I have
always sort of secretly liked LH Chi's. I loved the Pap too but I didn't see him to be any nicer
then my dog trainer friends Pap, Cha Cha to tell
you the truth.
The peke was simply awful as far as I am concerned and I do like them. But it looks like they have done to the peke was has been done to the persian cat.
Luckily my favorite persian cat the chincilla does not have near the smushed face that the reds, blacks and blues seem to have.
and, of course, the yorkie.

He was nice but I not as nice as that LH Chi!

Wow now that is something to talk about.
I really did think that little Frenchie was pretty awesome.

Since you watched too can you tell me which breed
was only a 22 month old dog.
And which breed I swear I heard this was only
an 11 month old dog? I know the 11 month
of something like that was definitely in the
"non-sporting dogs. I can't for the life of me
recall about the 22 month old but it seems
like the terriers?

It was the Cairn.

Thanks Melinda. I was very curious about that since it is quite unusual for a dog that young to even have a Champion title, let alone going to the Westminster.

So I guess you don't recall about the other youngster in the group? He was even younger. I was astounded. Too bad I was half awake.

Does anyone know when the herding breeds will be on tonight?
