Just thought of something about introducing your new budgie, Buddy, to bathing. How about a plant mister? Spray the budgie lightly with room-temp water (assuming it's warm inside, which in FL it should be even this time of year) so he gets used to being wet and then preening. Then, as someone else pointed out, perhaps put lettuce leaves in the bath as an attraction. I do believe 'keets bath using wet leaves in the wild.

Both really good ideas. My love bird didn't care for getting sprayed but a keet might. I think he started attempting to imitate the canary's whistles this morning. Maybe someday he'll try to imitate the songs? ...

Two of my budgies thought the mister was the devil itself. They would go into panic mode the minute they saw it, despite the fact that a third budgie LOVED being misted as often as possible. Even just allowing the misted water to fall down around them was scary. One of mine likes to run around in the sink while a trickle of water runs into a dish placed over the drain. Seems they each develop their own preferences.
