Hi there,
I have some Lovebird eggs on the way and I would like to hand feed hand tame them.
I haven't tried it before so I need to collect all the info I can.(fast)!
If anyone has done this before and could point me in the right direction,to get information.I would be very greatful. Thanks

Eggs are hard to hand feed and almost impossible to train.

The best way to do this is to find someone in your area who will take you through all the steps starting with the supplies you will need, to how to schedule your feedings, formula consistency and temperature as well as feeding technique. It's very easy to aspirate a chick due to inexperience. A person to show you and monitor you at first would go a long way toward doing this successfully.

Sincerely,
Joanne

DONT, hand reared lovebirds dont make good pets. infact dont hand rear anything, there are thousands of birds looking for homes out there. hand rearing is done solely for cash by greedy heartless people.

What a pant-load of BS.

Now wait a minute Dave, it might have something there, right after reading that post I was feeling rather heartless. LOL
Handrearing is done to assist you all in not getting your finger bit off by a bad assed Amazon when you are stupid enough to stick your hand in it's beak asking, "does this bird bite?"
Handrearing is done because I really enjoy watching a critter go from an eating and shi*ing machine into a companion who is more real than most humans.

and over run with rescue birds
To be honest huck,I agree with the fact that there are far too many birds with out loving homes and appropriate care. But in my defense I have to say that going to a breeder is a far better choice than paying far too much for poorly treated birds at a local pet store.Have you ever seen the conditions that those birds often live in,it is deplorable. The two birds I had purchased from a reputable breeder were believed to be two males. This obviously this is not the case.I had no intentions in breeding, yet now I have to deal with the matter at hand.

I have done my homework and asked around as to how I might find homes for these birds in the near future.I was notified that it would be rather difficult you place them in a good home without hand rearing them my self.I don't wish to give them to the spca or give them to a pet store.Even if I felt comfortable with handing them to a pet store they won't take them without being hand raised because that's what people are looking for.Other wise they will just buy them dirt cheep from god knows where. So as you can see I haven't much choice, but to get help from others who have done this in the past.I'm sorry if I have offended you with my response but I am an avid bird lover and would never in a million years abuse them in the manner of which you have suggested. Also I would like to note that there are many pet stores in local hfx.

that are qualified and respectful of the animals of which they sell.I could go on and on to further prove my point.I have to say I do appreciate the fact that you have taken the time to stand up for animal rights,it's very noble of you.Yet next time you should put a little thought behind what you are about to say.
