Someone, a while back, posted a list of harmless plants that could be grown (in pots) in a viv with a bearded dragon. Could some kind soul please re-post it.
Harry has decided he is quite happy to eat greens as long as they are still on the plant! Could I grow carrot/turnip/parsnip tops and put them in for him to chew?
I give him the odd coriander and parsley plant but I'd love to get him eating fresh greens all the time.
Thanks in advance.

I found this but I seem to remember it was a much bigger list than this. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Woods/4512/tplants.html

LOL Of course. ;-))
But it's not got everything has it? I want to give him a variety of plants so he has all the nutrition he needs in a fresh source. He's trying to eat his way through an ivy covered with cabbage at the moment! I think I've managed to fool him into thinking the cabbage really is ivy. :-))

Hmm ... having looked at this list I'd have to dispute the safety of the Dumbcane (Dieffenbachia). From what I remember the sap of this plant is poisonous and can cause paralysis of the mouth if eaten ... hence it's name dumbcane.
I'll have a google and see if I can come up with any reliable evidence for this or whether it's just an old wive's tale, but I certainly remember either being told or reading, many years ago, that this is the case.

I wondered about that cos my mum got rid of one when I had my eldest as thats what she said could happen if he ate it, I thought maybe it was just a 'human' thing. :-)

Well I got rid of mine cos of the possibility of the cats chewing on it, so I presume it would affect all animals.
According to this site it is definitely poisonous:

I'm not sure what sort of plants that are safe would suit such a hot, dry environment. I know weeping figs (Ficus sp) are ok but they like plenty of humidity or they drop leaves like crazy. I've never yet managed to keep one of those damned things alive for very long. They'd be more suited to a chameleon or water dragon enclosure.
I gave up trying to put live plants in with the beardies as they just trample over everything anyway. Although I often put herbs and cress in as they eat that before it has chance to be ruined. Favourites are coriander and basil, and occasionally parsley but I think that has high potassium levels so don't give them very much.
I usually just buy those mixed salad bags from Tescos and they love that, but make sure you get the ones without iceburg lettuce in. Other favourites are celery leaves, savoy cabbage, occasionally a bit of kale (red and green) and when I can get to the market I get fresh beetroot leaves that they chop off if people don't want them ... and they're free!! Emotion: rolleyes
