Everything is a double-edged sword. Or, as I heard it put once, "it's a damn poor blade that only cuts one way."

That's Asimov, isn't it? Or was it Heinlein?
No, I 'm pretty sure it was Asimov. "Foundation" most probably.
Bella has a fat (lower - side) lip. We don't know what the cause is but the treatment is cortisone and benadryl.

That happened to a roommate's cat. We thought it was a bee sting, but the vet said no, that it was some sort of cancre-like sore. He gave her a cortisone shot, which helped clear it up. If Bella's problem is similar, the vet said that it might not ever return, but often it does. There's no way to know. I don't think Ari ever had another lumpy lip, though.
The poor girl (for some reason) looks drugged. Glassy eyes, droopy demeanor... but she's not messing with her lip, which is good news.

Poor girl, indeed! I hope she cheers up and the loses the fat lip quickly.

It took two readings to see canker. Cancre is a bad word to dyslexics.

I think she got the fat lip pulling leaves off of the mulberry or the plum trees. She does love salad. It's also possible that she decided to give the roses a taste test. Doodle used to love them.

Considering that Bella is afraid of bugs (BUG-GA!!!), I don't think she got stung, but nobody can see anything. We may never know. I don't know how long she's had a problem, but it also may explain why she's been such a meany-pants to Beanie (the flew-licker).

Aw, hell. Apparently, I could benefit from having a spell checker.

That'd do it. She could have gotten a little thorn imbedded in her lip.

Well, yeah, I'd be a meanypants, too, if someone were trying to lick my sore flews.

We can't see or feel anything and now that she's drugged, she's leaving her poor lip alone.
It's frustrating.

Now he takes pills very well because he knows there's a treat coming afterward.

The "toss the pill down the esophagous" method works well when they're concentrating on the treat to come.
When I give drugs to dogs, matter of fact works best.

Yes. Howsomever, y'all are way nicer than I am. I just open the dog's mouth and poke the pill down her throat. She might get a kiss on the nose and a thank you, but rarely a treat.
She'll also eat pills that are tossed in with her kibble, if I'm pilling her at mealtimes.

These days, there is as much meds in Khan's kibble as there is kibble. Daily, we have thyroid pill, melatonin, Proin, fish oil, flax seed oil (sometimes liquid, sometimes capsule) and at the beginning of the month, HW pill. Back when he was getting glucosamine pill, he would eat around it; if he did, I'd just stick it down his throat, and give him a bit of PB to lick off after.
