My 13 yr old son is intent on getting a lizard/ dragon but I am not sure what kind to get. I don't want one that will be antisocial, expensive, difficult to care for, need a lot of room, complicated care... etc. I don't know a lot about reptiles other than what I have found in the way of research; it would help a lot if I could get feedback from people who have actualy cared for these animals. Any suggestions?

Blue tongue skink (Tiliqua scincoides) is a great starter easy to look after and feed. Cheap or free for captive bred here in Oz, not sure if your part of the world see them the same way.
Bearded dragon
Leopard gecko
Both are great lizards, easy to keep

Bearded dragon first than lepoard gecko
I think the leopard gecko is easy. Doesn't need much overhead room or special lighting as it is nocturnal. I have day lighting for my comfort. Leps are handlied pretty easily, rarely (if ever) bite, and you can hand feed them. Just make sure to provide a shed box in some corner with moist moss, and a small under tank heater one one side for warmth. I feed mine crickets and mealworms, dusted about twice a week with Reptical (calcium supplement). Very friendly critters that don't grow too large. A ten gallon aquairium is sufficient for one. Good luck!

I would go for a bearded dragon or the blue-tongued skinks.
