The joys of the wooded lot are many... however I have a tree service on retainer... Emotion: smile
your dogs have made me think of my black dog ben, hes long dead now. but thankyou it was nice to sit and remember him.

It's sad that they leave us so soon. I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures.

I finally put up some pictures of the girls enjoying the (somewhat recently) fenced-in yard. I'm not claiming these are stellar, but I like them! Zoe is the smaller one, Queenie the larger one:

Nice job with the fencing and the photos!
I love autumnal-dog-leaf pictures. I had planned on taking some black dog with orange pumpkin pix, but one of the dogs ate the pumpkin one afternoon while hanging out in the yard.

I had 5 small pumpkins on a table, along with larger ones. Had them there since before Halloween. I now only have 3. Someone has orange chunks in his poop. Need you ask more?

they're lovely photos. black dogs show up especially well against fall foliage (green grass, too, when that's in season). well done!

what a gorgeous yard. and gorgeous dogs, too, of course. it looks like the girls are really enjoying the fall weather and crunching and sniffing around in the leaves. what fun!

It's good spelling, but it Wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places.

Kate, meet harriet. several years ago, my mom sent a large box of winter squash and pumpkins home with me. the intent was that i'd use them in still lifes. haw! elliott and harriet decided that squash made a damnfine toy and food. they'd chase each other around the yard, playing bitey-squash-face. when the squash got mangled enough, they'd eat it.
over thanksgiving, harriet's brane nearly imploded when she got a whiff of pumpkin pie. "you mean, it's pumpkin and pie?! whyeveronearth did you not tell me of this human delicacy before?" she also kept nosing at a big basket of assorted squash that my mom had sitting on a shelf in the kitchen. i had to remind her several times to get her nose out of it, because it was not To Have. poor puppy.

I actually did know that I myself didn't have a pumpkin this year, but discovered Queenie's propensity for them when visiting a friend who had one on the porch. She kept trying to sneak the little tops into the house with her, which was pretty funny.
But then, she will consume anything that comes her way. Maybe it's a retriever thing?

Thank you! The leaves do work well for contrast.

Thank you again! They really are enjoying the fall. Zoe kind of wilts during the summer, and the fall weather is like a resurrection for her.

I was actually afraid that there were too many trees in the yard to make it a fun fenced-in area, but I underestimated the joys of a good obstacle course!

I did, I did! I've known it since Sam tackled one of Mom's decorative orange squashes, dragged it to death, then ate it. He used to get one sacrificial pumpkin every year, and often managed to snag one or two others if he wasn't scrupulously supervised. The year the pack attacked (3 dogs,
1 pumpkin, no waiting), we had pumpkin parts all over the yard. For anhour. Nothing like a large orange edible ball to makes some dogs nuts!
