Nice job with the fencing and the photos! I love autumnal-dog-leaf pictures. I had planned on taking some black dog ... of the dogs ate the pumpkin one afternoon while hanging out in the yard. Who knew dogs like raw pumpkin?!

coyotes do! there is a pumpkin patch at the orchard, and coyotes feast there daily until they are so engorged that they regurgitate pumpkin EVERYWHERE! Then they come back for more!

Thank you again! They really are enjoying the fall. Zoe kind of wilts during the summer, and the fall weather is like a resurrection for her.

i think that's pretty common for fluffy dogs. my neighbor's Chow mixes have really come alive in the past few weeks. in the summer, though, they're flat.
I was actually afraid that there were too many trees in the yard to make it a fun fenced-in area, but I underestimated the joys of a good obstacle course!

trees are good! they provide shade, and the obstacle-course aspect is endlessly entertaining. i wish my yard had nice, big trees in it, but it was bare when i moved here. i'm babying several black walnut saplings, but it'll be years before they're much use.

Not discerning, is Mr. Rocky? I think most of 'em aren't. It's probably a mark of a successful scavenger.
And yet, and yet: My prime suspect in the Pumpkin Caper (pumpkin with capers? euu.) is Mr. Hamish - and the Puppy Who Ate the Pumpkin thinks turkey livers are gross. I gave him one while preparing the bird last weekend. He took it, moved it around his mouth meditatively, got a little cross-eyed, and placed it (with an apologetic look) on the floor. Storm sacrificed herself and eased his distress by promptly snatching it and gobbling it up.
Silly puppy.

Maybe Hamish meant to save it for later? This morning, the Vizsla stashed the treat I gave him while my dogs were eating. He went back for it later. Heh. Ya snooze, ya loose in these parts.

I'm with Hamish on this one. Liver is gross. Period.

I finally put up some pictures of the girls enjoying the (somewhat recently) fenced-in yard. I'm not claiming these are stellar, but I like them! Zoe is the smaller one, Queenie the larger one: http://www.kodakgallery.com/catherinepix/fenced yard

They're beautiful. Queenie looks a bit like my brother's dog, Gatsby.

I've seen this happen before, so I'm wondering. Do you ever get questions from people about whether the little dog is the offspring of the big one? I used to get it all the time when I'd watch a friend's GSD pup.
